    Cheers,

I'll keep that in mind, I have heard of Willamantic. Not really looked into the CT brewpubs so much but was aware that Granby wasn't too much of a drive.

My friend has a 2 year old daughter now so in order to get a lift from his wife (otherwise we don't bith get to drink!) we have had to cut back the distance on our trips so they can all come along, this probably prohibits the ones you mention in upstate NY.

Had a few Peekskill offerings in NY when I was over - decent enough stuff.

Our first trip to Rehoboth was to visit Dogfish Head but we keep returning cuz it's a great place to stay and enjoy the beach. We go to Maine every year not for the beer but I do make sure we hit up the brewpubs/breweries.

Two of the better beercation spots were only mentioned once in this thread.
San Diego with over 75 breweries and fantastic surf. Surf in the morning and reward yourself with beer the rest of the day. Not to mention some damn good beer bars
Southwest Michigan. Bells, Founders, Arcadia, Dark Horse, Brewery Vivant, Lake Michigan for R &R.....
have done both and loved them.

Sure. Done it plenty of times. While I love Munich and Bamberg, the beers are at least one of the main reasons I like to visit.

Make sure to go to Hill Farmstead too! I want to make the same trip! Was hoping to go for fall colors but I'm waiting until next year.

Depending on where you are from in Tejas there is alot of fun things to do in Austin. Me and the wife have made this trip a couple of times, Jester King is alot of fun with live band there the two times I have made it. Also Whip-In is a brew-pub that is pretty enjoyable (great nachos and awesome beer selection{check out their own brews aswell}). I have not had a chance to check out Austin Beer Works but I really want to.

Here is a list of brew tours you can take

Also while is Austin the wineries in the area are great, if you are in to that stuff.

Whats good in Indianapolis? I visit there yearly for a show and don't ever really explore anything, except the Speedway, because it is FREAKING COLD in Feb.

My wife and I are planning a long weekend trip to drive up to Russian River from San Diego. Probably when Younger drops.

If I were single or my wife liked beer I'd absolutely do this. Though, while the beer/brewery would be the focus there would have to be more in the area to do besides that.

Last month I went to CO to visit breweries to taste their beers on tap. I did rate the breweries but not the beers I sampled for various reasons like distractions. I would do it again. Maybe CA next or MI. Thanks to all the BA members that helped me in some choices!

GF and I went to Vermont a few weeks ago, basically just for HT. It was her birthday present to me. Loved it. She asked where I want to go next year. Think we will be headed to California. IPA heaven!

Absolutley...my last trip was with my brother, brother-in-law and high school buddy to Asheville NC. I planned it especially for beer. We hit the Craggie Brewery (now closed), Asheville Pizza and Brewery, Lexington Ave. Brewery and Restaurant, Jack of the Woods (Green Man Ales), The Oyster House Brewery and the Freinch Broad River Brewey.....all within a 10-12 minute walk.

Most of my vacations are spent on new beer destinations. or beer special events.
When Colorado and Washington go fully legal I will be spending all my vacations there and I may not leave. (fair warning)

My wife and I always plan our vacation trips to stop at the end of the day wherever a brewpub is located (sometimes at lunch too). On our last trip between Oregon and Michigan we detoured 50 miles off of i-80 down into Colorado so that we could get some Pliny, which I read about a new shipment to CO in these threads. It was well worth the detour.

I always incorporate brewery visits when I travel. While seeing the sights should always be a priority, visiting a tap room is a good way not only to try new beers, but get a local vibe from the area... listen to what people are talking about, how they do things, and maybe if you're lucky make new friends. I have made friends in areas all over the country who I can visit again... bringing people together is what truly makes craft beer great.

A couple friends and I do a roadtrip every fall which usually centers around breweries, brewpubs and beer stores which carry beers we can't get at home. I usually pick the location and set up the itinerary so I look for places that I think I would enjoy.

And, since I do all the vacation planning at home, once we figure out where we want to go, I find some beer related places to check out while we're there. My wife loves going to the Outer Banks every year, so I've found some great beer places to visit while we're there. It's a win-win.

I found a good deal on a stay at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT; I'd been wanting to try the Trapp lagers, so that worked out just fine. There were some other decent beers around town too.
