Noobs Get In Here Hints and Hauls Thread

It's time... FOR PORRRRRRN!


The main haul:


IPA: 2x Kuhnhenn TRIPA (never had anything by Kuhnhenn -- stoked to try!)
Wildcard: FFF Behemoth (this was a close call for me, but I went this way based on geography)
Stout: Founders KBS (another one that was a tough call won out by geography -- both options in "stout" were big wants for me)

That stout choice was a tough one, for sure. That said, I was just talking to a friend earlier today about how KBS was pretty close to the top of my "wants I haven't had yet but think I could reasonably obtain" list.

Also, Johnnie was a beast and crushed me with wants/extras:


Founders Double Trouble (want!)
Founders Imperial Stout (want that wasn't listed, but want nonetheless)
Founders Backwoods Bastard (sounds awesome!)
Founders Breakfast Stout (want!)

Also, it appears I have a photobombing Zombie Dust empty from yesterday. What a jerk.

Also, my beer fridge is super thankful that you sent short-format 12oz bottles because I don't think I'd have space for the beer otherwise (this may have also factored into the "stout" choice):


Target: The things that I know I'm sending you have already been pulled from the fridge in this photo (and placed in another refrigerator). That said, update your wants if you see something you want, and with some exceptions I can probably find an excuse to get it into the box. No spoilers here aside from that little bit of bubble wrap...

 

Give us a hint regarding the target! Are you using a few days to get some more stuff? I know you have a week but, why wait so long. I say that because I've got a nice fresh DIPA that I really want my target to enjoy and these week shipping times are killing it!

 

Nice haul, interesting my choice for the stout also was between KBS and the other bottle, and I had a tough time deciding as well. As we know I went with KBS as well, so curious as to who is going to take that other stout, I am surprised it has made it this far.

jdhowe, if you have already had one, that Ninja vs Unicorn you have is awesome!

 

Fair enough... box will go out, maybe tomorrow. Sadly, that is my first/only ninja vs unicorn, but another pipeworks brew I have hinted at is going out (also my only/first, but a regular trading partner can probably get me one down the road and I will be happy to send it off to a good home ). Ipa/dipa is already a lock for the outgoing box.

LoL! Thanks. Fridge, actually... freezer is hop pellets right now and not much else. Blame BIFs and the fact that I buy more delicious beer than I can find time to drink. (MontereyBay831... come help me drink this down!)

I am still trying to figure out what one of the three "category" selections will be.

Another hint, as requested: My previous hints, coupled with the remaining participants in this BIF and their hints should tell my target who they are. I'm not sending to CA.

And, jloomis, that other stout is a monster brew, but I had it on draft this past February (and the year prior), so I had to go with the one that I've never gotten to try before.

Johnnie... just so I know (since I couldn't tell on the bottle), what year are the KBS? I assume the most recent release, although I don't know when that was. Planning to drink one as soon as I get a chance -- I love a good bourbon barrel-aged stout in a reasonable serving size.

This years batch, for sure... I believe the bottle dates where something like 3/21/13.

Today was a very good day. Why was it so good? Well... because my stop at the store made me gut your box and replace what I was going to send with some beers bottled a little bit more recently.



As a result, the note included in your box is a little inaccurate, but the contents are the same. Cheers.

So what's the update?

 

Right now the update is a Tuesday expected delivery date. FedEx is giving me no more information. The beer pictured above should make it to my target within a week of bottling.

 

The box is inside my target's state and ready to deliver tomorrow. The last FedEx update had it located in a town with a name that was inspired by a biblical story.

Jdhowe, that last hint pretty much gave it away for me so, I went home at lunch to find a big nicely packed box sitting on my porch. Great job on picking, I have never had Blind Pig and am sooooo looking forward to having one that fresh! I really appreciate you going the extra mile to make that happen! There were some obvious choices and some more difficult so, pics coming.
