Zelko is a 40% ABV vodka from the United States. The vodka is produced by Majestic Distilling Co, Inc. The quality is considered to be terrible. The average price is around $6.00 per 750mL.

Is Bud considered beer? I mean, it's bleached rice fermentation, it's not even classified as a beer is it?

What amazes me is that there's so much beer on that list. Considering the strength of hard liquor (compared to those beers) you'd think they would have caused of more visits to the ER.

On another note hipsters that drink PBR have a low sperm count. The question; because of the girl pants or the beer.

Can't believe Chelada didn't make the list, based on taste alone. At least I would expect a lot of requests for a stomach pump.

Really surprised both Bud Light and Miller Lite made this list. Must be from chugging contests or they are having shots of booze at some point.

The figures were gathered at the Johns Hopkins ER in Baltimore, so Natty Boh makes sense.

What is being reviewed here, exactly? The author's background is interesting but it doesn't discredit the study in any way.

Some of our most famous psychological experiments involve "tricking" the subjects in one way or another - is there something objectively wrong with that?

Throwing around names of organizations which didn't support the study is also interesting, but shouldn't it be noted that other well known organizations (The CDC and the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control) did support it?

The entire article just smacks of kneejerk reactionism rather than an honest review of the study. I'm happy to admit, though, that the sensationalism surrounding the results is entirely unwarranted (and the author himself admits that little can be concluded from this isolated experiment).

I work as an EMT in a pretty populated area of Northern VA and come across alcohol abusers quite often. Whether its someone who fell, doing something stupid, driving, or fighting almost always they were drinking something BMC swill. I normally ask because it gives me an idea of how much alcohol they consumed, and gives my colleagues and I something to laugh about later (I work with some fellow Advocates )
The reason I bring this up is to illustrate the typical person who would go overboard with alcohol and put themselves in a situation where they would need help of some kind. Not to put us BA's on a pedestal but it seems like there is a correlation between enjoying your alcohol by drinking it responsibly and ending up in the hospital as a result of drinking too much or doing something they shouldn't while intoxicated after drinking as much 3% beer as they could through a bong to get drunk. To me, the abuser wasn't so much doing it for taste and experience as much as they were going for the buzz.
Not to say that people who drink good beer or liquor don't do stupid shit, or that all people who drink BMC beers will act stupid and do stupid shit, just a generalization based on my observation

Who of us wasn't drinking swill and ended up in the ER when we were kids? Thirteen stitches in my hand three days before I left for Army Basic. It's all age related and has nothing to do with where you live.
