Don't know why they don't post it themselves other than it might look like advertising.

    Just posted elsewhere, but prices:

Could be worse. I already miss the free samples though.

Boy they're just giving the stuff away!

    /snark

I think they need to rethink the pricing...why would you buy a 13oz pour for $5.50 if 2 x 6oz is only $4? That extra ounce costs $1.50? :astonished:

Yeah, comparable to Trillium growlers (a bit higher) and Mystic. Annoying that state law requires filling only their growlers, so you have to get one from each brewery.

Ah yes, that mysterious state law that's written nowhere and that no brewery cares to change.

Yeah, I was not referring to growler prices, which are what they are and have been what they've been for quite a while, more the draft prices, which are new. However, on the subject of growler prices, I do really think they should stop making the half fills 2/3 of the cost... I don't understand why breweries have to do this. NEBCO has it right. You're selling me half the beer - charge me half the price. I love Night Shift and drink a lot of their beer, but when a 500mL fill is 10 bucks, and a 750mL bottle is 12 bucks, why would I buy a growler fill? I've gotten exactly one fill there ever.

    Yeah, pretty weird.

Meh. It's a deposit. Just return your growlers. Annoying for out of staters for sure though.

Has anyone tried the King/Queen box set yet? Very cool packaging but I haven't heard anything about the beer itself yet

The Night Shift one was better, but not fantastic. The Backlash one had some plastic-y notes to me and was not very good. Either way, nothing to write home about - but now that they've dropped the price, considering buying one to see what age has done...

Agreed. It is pretty obvious these guys went to Bowdoin college with terrible math skills like that.

    NightShift tweeted.at someone:
"if someone needs to sample something before buying, no problem. Flights will be $5, served in fancy snifter glassware"

So i guess you can sample for free still, though naturally they'd love if you bought instead.

As Auror, mentioned we are still happy to pour free samples. But now you can also enjoy larger pours of our beer as well. The price for the small glasses and big glasses aare actually the same as far as per ounce. The glass sizes are 6oz and 13 oz but only hold 4 oz and 11 oz of beer (the other 2 ounces are head). So both the $2 and $5.50 pours work out to be 50 cents per ounce. Sorry if that was misleading.

We are new to the taproom thing and will be adjusting things based on customer feedback and as we learn. Hopefully we will see you all soon at the brewery.

    Cheers,
    Rob

Can you return growlers for deposit at all these breweries? I know Jack's Abby gives you your $3 back, but I thought the others were selling the glass.

I like it. Definitely makes the trek to the middle of nowhere with no parking a bit more justifiable on a more frequent basis.

Suggestion: Put something on tap for Barrel Society members only. It doesn't necessarily need to be the the current society offering (or any society offering at all) - maybe just an experimental batch one-off or something else interesting.

Can I strongly suggest you mark the board with liquid volume of beer sold, not the volume of the glass? Volume of liquid should be standard everywhere, anything else leads to misunderstandings.

Glad to hear you're still pouring samples! Now I'm 100% on board with this. Only other comment I would make (per above) is about the bottle "markup" to drink at the brewery. Seems odd and unnecessary to me if it can be avoided. Cheers!

This would be awesome... But it's a small group, and I can't see them dedicating a line to it.

AFAIK all brewers will either refill the glass or give the deposit back, as long as it is their own-labeled growler.

That's a good point--a "standard pint glass" is actually 20-oz capacity and a 12-oz goblet often has a 10-oz mark in it for fill, so technically is a 10-oz goblet. Sampling glasses are often sold as "4-oz glasses" rather than 6-oz, although I've seen it go both ways.

As for bottle mark-up, it really doesn't sound unreasonable to me, although it would be nice to show something else for it--e.g., a pint glass to take home. This might be most appealing to tourists who may not want to deal with packing bottles to take home, but can take a glass in a carry-on.

I know they will refill it, the question is can it be returned for deposit? I think other then Jack's Abby, they are selling the glass, which is not what the other poster contended.
