    ...when it's two years old?

I've seen it on the shelf for a while now, and one two-pack (the place I frequent has the sense to offer all the Oskar Blues stuff in 2-packs) in particular was dated 4-19-2010. I've been tempted to try it out for the lulz, and I wonder if it's going to be a sweet onion-y mess, a decent barleywine, or just plain underwhelming.

    Thoughts on 2-year old Gubna?

If its anything like the 4 or 5 month old (can't remember exactly) can of Gubna that I had a while back it will suck horribly. If you want to waste your time, money, and taste buds then I highly recommend picking up some old cans of Gubna. While your at it I have access to some IPAs (Titan and Dales) that were bottled last November and October if you're into that kind of thing.

Well, time can't possibly make it any worse, so if the price is right give it a shot. Time will also not change an IPA into a Barleywine.

It's $8 for a two pack...common sense should dictate I stay the hell away from it...but I'm so morbidly curiously how potentially terrible it will turn out...stay tuned.

Gubna is not a great experience fresh for me either, but I would think the onion flavors will turn into something more complex and heartburn inducing.

I respect everyone's opinion but I get so p*ssed off when Gubna gets bashed all the time on this website. If it's dated 2010, run away (as with any other imperial IPA of that age). If you can find some cans dated within the past month or two, go for it. Yes, it does have an onion/garlic character, but to me, that's what seperates it from the massive field of Imperial IPA's. I'm a minority, I could drink Gubna day in and day out. From experience, buy some cans that are less than a few months old and report back.

The only brew from OB that I don't like. I like onions, but not in my beer, really awful stuff.

But why get pissed about it? You like the scallion flavor, but a bunch of people don't. No one is right or wrong, just different. Don't get mad about it, that just means there should be more for you to drink....right?

I'm not a fan either, their only brew I'm crazy about it GKnight, love that beer.

I haven't had Gubna or Deviant but I love Dale's. I tried G'Knight one time and I got that onion flavor real bad. Wondering if they use Simcoe in there. Had to drain pour. Anyone else get this with G'Knight? Didn't care too much for Old Chub.

I just had a 2 month old Gubna and it was good. That's the only time I've had it so I can't reaaly speak for older or fresher. I'm sure it taste great fresh!

i understand the references to onion, garlic, etc in gubna and deviant (although i don't agree with them) - but i've never gotten that from gordon/g'knight. if anything, i like that one better.

You're right, more for the folks who do enjoy it. I'm constantly looking at canned on dates whenever I see it on the shelf and buy a bunch if it's fresh enough for my personal taste.

For what it's worth I had the beer when it was first canned and was like a week old. It was amazing when fresh but the unique character starts to come out quickly in my experience with other cans.
