I stumbled across this store that has pretty much every Jolly Pumpkin beer in mass quantities. I was wondering how well each of their beers age. I know barleywines and imperial stout beers age for a while but Jolly Pumpkin makes some unique beers that are already barrel aged to begin with

I don't even drink them unless they've been aged at least 1 year. Almost anything sour gets better with age.

I can't speak to the others but the older Oro de Calabaza bottles I've had were much better than the younger ones. I'm talking one year versus fresh.

Since they don't make good beer I've never found out, but I'd like to heartily refute the above comment that almost anything sour gets better with age. Many "sours" are much better, fresh. See: DDG, Consecration, Supplication, most fruit lambics (to my tastes). They indeed can and DO age very well, but reflexive cellaring is basically never the answer.

They should shape up well. If you can try one in a year, and another a year later.

Just had a bottle of Sobrehuman Palena'ole (the collab with Maui). It was really good at about 1.5 years (if I am remembering the age correctly).

As others have said, go for it.

How would you know they don't make good beer if you've never had it? Kind of a head scratcher.

I've never found out if they aged well, which is the question. I've had roughly a dozen of their beers. And some are better than others (Bam Biere, Biere de Mars Grand Reserve), but even when they're good I don't feel like the value is there. And before you ask, I've tried them so many times because they SOUND interesting, I love their labeling/branding, I love the idea of the brewery, I want them to be good. I just haven't personally found them to be.

I was so confused by your not liking JP beers that I misunderstood you. My aplogies.

I'm confused why you think PRB is good value. Because it's cheap? That's not enough.

Enjoy By is a steal at $7 a bottle.

Parabola is an excellent value at $17 a bottle.

Drie Fonteinen Oude Geuze is a superb value at $20.

I don't think Jolly Pumpkin makes very good beer. Over-attenuated, thin, flabby beers. You probably disagree. That's cool. I'll continue to not be a few expensive beers that I think are ok from a brewery that I don't particularly like when there are lots of other options available in life.

This is the same situation I have with JP. They were my introduction into sour beers, and I love them for that. Now I let my bottle shop age them for me.
