I have a bottle left from last year if you have time for a bottleshare when you're out here.

How does the fram for a cure bottle release work? Are there bottle limits? Do you donate money for breast cancer and get awesome beer in return? Or is it a cost per bottle?

Last year was $15 per bottle, with a 12 bottle limit on day 1. The next day that limit was cut to 6 and I am not sure how long that lasted.

Can't exactly remember how long it lasted, but it lasted at least a couple of weeks. They release a certain amount of bottles per day, so it's not a release you have to lineup for on the first day.

Also, I hope it's on tap again this year.

It lasted on tap the longest last year, right? I missed out last year, I won't this year.

Pretty sure all bottles were gone the first week of release last year. Natalie mentions on the RR blog that bottles were almost gone as they were getting ready for GABF, which was the second week of October last year.

Last year I think it was gone after 4-5 days because of the high limits on day 1, which I missed out on. The next day was six per person, and then I feel like it went before they lowered it to two bottles, which they still may have done for the last day or two that it was available.

In 2011 it was a two bottle per person a day limit that lasted in bottles for a couple weeks, so maybe you're remembering the bottle release and availability from then. In that case I think they raised the limits after the first day or two so that they would sell it faster, and then it went back down to two.

The reason they had higher limits on day one I'm pretty sure is to guarantee that they get the money from the bottles to donate almost instantaneously rather than a drawn out process.

I was there day 1 and it was a 12 bottle limit for only a few hours. When we arrived we could have bought 12 but by the time we left it was 6

Maybe I am. I only went one time last year to get some, and didn't really pay any attention after that. It probably did help that it was on tap too, so I didn't feel the need to buy up a bunch of bottles.

The reason had nothing to do with instant donations. The money is collected all month (all money from sales of FfaC not just profit is donated), raffle tickets, and a percentage of Aud Blonde sales along with cash donations are totaled. A check is presented to Sutter Health Breast Cancer program in early November.

This is incorrect. They actually didn't sell out, and ended up distributing the bottles. Remember the fiasco where City Beer upcharged the bottles after RR specifically asked them not to? They only got those bottles because 2/person was too low. That's why they upped the bottlecount in 2012, so it would sell out faster. I think they realized quickly that they overshot. Also they were $20 in 2012 so that could've caused some issues too.

I probably worded my statement a little off. It was supposed to sound like they would like to have the money in hand sooner rather than later, by having a higher bottle limit the very first day so they can move the majority of the bottles at the very beginning of the month and know that they will sell them quickly.

I was not try to say that they are trying to donate the second they get the money from the bottles each day. I am definitely aware that it is a month long process and try and help out by buying raffle tickets, drinking more FfaC and Aud Blonde. : )

Well at some point there were no longer bottles for purchase at the Russian River Brewery (so whether they sold out at the brewery, or distributed to a couple locations) I wasn't buying any more bottles from the brewpub more than few weeks after the release. I also remember seeing them sitting in the cooler at City Beer Store next to some Loons. Did Toronado also get some of the FfaC that year?

The $20 price tag on those FfaC makes the $25 price tag on T25 look like a pretty good deal comparatively.

Toronado did get some 2011 FFaC, some of which just went on the bottle list a couple months ago. All long gone, naturally.

I believe they distributed it at the end of the month so they could get the cash for it to donate. I think it available at the pub basically through all of October. I think it not being available into November is to be expected, regardless of how much they have.

What are these releases like? Considering a Bay Area trip in the coming 2 months and thinking about orienting it around the release. What should I expect?
