I think this is a reasonable point - not one I've thought of before. You can't buy or try Trillium at the brewery at all except in a growler, which then you're paying a non-refundable fee for. That does kinda suck.

You guys could fit an indoor bocce court, right? That sounds awesome to me... But otherwise, NO on TVs and your additional seating sounds perfect.

Good to know that the majority of people prefer no TV. Personally I prefer no TV but didn't think that was a common preference.

We are hoping to work on getting a steady stream of food trucks to attend our open hours, especially on Friday nights and Saturday. But we haven't worked that all out just yet.

Maybe we can turn the roof into a boucce court... I am sure our insurance company would be cool with that.

This is one of the reason we offer returns on growlers. It allows people to buy 5 growlers for a BBQ or wedding and then return the glass when they are done. We had a customer that bought 30 growlers for a wedding and that $5 back when they returned made a huge difference.

Keep sending suggestions our way. Cheers.

You get that bocce court on the roof and I'll be there all the time. Get a couple of decks of Monopoly deal, too, and I'll just set up a cot.

I think a bocce court would fit in the hall before you enter the brewery, as would corn hole and ladder ball.

Assuming that is probably not their space.

That's insane. Can't you just sell the keg?

Kegs seem to be more work for a small brewery, unless I'm mistaken. And I can understand wanting a growler on every table, instead of one keg.

Just out of sheer curiousity, what beer did they get 30 growlers of?

I'd say I'm anxiously awaiting bottles of "You're My Boy Blue!berry Berliner Weisse" but Howe Sound beat them to it.

I think in that old thread I posted that I called the ABCC and spoke to a guy who cited some law where it said breweries could only use their own growlers.

Their wedding venue wouldn't allow kegs so growlers were the best option for them.

It was a mix of Honeydew, Oasis, Bee Tea and Somer Weisse.

I was by this weekend and I have to say I kinda like it the way it is. Its a small space so encouraging people to stay longer than a flight or a glass of beer would make it even more crowded. If you want a destination or a place for people to camp out I think that would require more room.

Old thread, but I couldn't find a more appropriate one for my question.

Anyone here had a recent bottle of Somer Weisse? I picked one up yesterday from an August batch (I can't recall which day it was bottled) as I've enjoyed various Night Shift offerings and had never tried this one before. I have some experience with sours, though not all that much, and more with Berliner Weisses, so I figured I'd ask here: Does Somer Weisse typically have such a markedly powerful sour/vinegary aspect as I tasted last night? I see lots of claims about infected bottles on this site and oftentimes the perceived "infection" sounds more like the drinker's unfamiliarity with the style or the brand (and again, I'm not hugely experienced with sour brews), but this was so vinegary and so clench-jawed sour, to say nothing of the... uh... pronounced bilious note I was picking up, that I couldn't take more than a few sips before giving up.

Is this brew particularly extreme in its flavor profile and something you'd expect to be an acquired taste, or does it sound more likely that I got a bad bottle?

great game! a staple of our long brewery/bar visits as of late. The only downfall of it is that it seems tough to teach people to play... esp. after a few beers.

Have you had any other Night Shift Weisses before? Or any other sours that are on the very sour end of sour?

Night Shift's berliners are dramatically more sour than the typical berliner (one of the reasons I love them so much!). They are quite sour, and they only continue to get more sour as they sit. I perceive little acetic/vinegar character in them typically though, most just clean lacto- sour.

Occam's Razor would tell me that this is simply how you perceive this beer. Infection does not usually take the character that you mention.

Please let me know when we start doing keg stand of any of the Weisse beers. I'm not even picky about which.
