I've had modus hoperandi in bottles and cans, its way better in the can and seems to stay fresh longer.

Well, when Oscar Blues started doing it 10 years ago other breweries began to find out that it could be done and still sell your beer, and over the years since it has gotten to be less of a gamble and become more economically viable as an alternative to bottles. Now there are several who use cans only for their beers.

The newer cans are so effin thin, I've had more than one break/puncture when dropped. They make not break as easily, but they're sure not as durable as the older types.

Nearly got a bath one day when I grabbed a case of Sly Fox Pikeland Pils off an overhead shelf in a walk-in cooler. Someone had sliced open the sides a few cans with a utility knife, probably when they were cutting the flaps off a case of bottles next to it.

I am glad to see "good" beer being put in cans, seems to me that cans surely prevent the enemy(light) from getting to the precious contents inside.Besides, cans are lighter, more easily recycled and chill faster with less fear of breakage(alcohol abuse,in my book). If you are a purist you can always decant into proper glassware.Just my 2 hops worth.

The backlash against Sam Adams when they put the news that they were canning Boston Lager up on Facebook was hilarious.

That'll happen when the very brewery that authored the Beer Drinkers Bill of Rights violates the 6th Amendment:
...so Jim Koch and BBC also had themselves to blame on that one. Especially considering that while BBC and Ball re-designed the lip and opening of the new can, there was no report of a new/different liner.

Well, you can't break a can over a guys head in a bar fight.

Longer shelf life, isn't affected by direct sun light, no longer affects the flavor since all cans are lined on the inside, less damage during transportation are a couple of reasons I know personally off hand.

Just think of the trade possibilities if all beer came in cans. I'd be shipping it all over the US.
    Step 1. Grab large box.
Step 2. Stuff with canned beer.
Step 3. Throw in enough packing materials to keep it in place.
Step 4. Reap the rewards of all your trades!

This can v bottle controversy reminds me a lot of the Lib v Con divide we have in this country. We all drink beer, we just go at it from different perspectives. *glug glug slush slush* Can (bottle) we just all get along?

Thats because the additional profit is going back to the brewer. Why lower the price?

I wonder though, does the tab inside the can and the openning tab increase the head stand while being poured.
I noticed that can beers tend to have a taller head stand or is it just me.

Funny thing about the craft beer industry.

"THIS GLASS IS NEEDED TO TRULY ENJOY A BEER"
    *buys glass*

"CANS ARE BETTER LESS LIGHT AND OXIDATION! WEIGHS LESS! CAN TAKE WITH YOU ON TRIPS EASIER!"
*drinks beer from a can while traveling*

Can't win either way now. Personally, I love bottles.

I honestly think they just want to save money on shipping which is fine but don't make it seem like something it's not. If you're buying craft beer you most likely know how to store it away from light.

I don't know. If you look inside, the tab's just hanging there.

I looked inside and, to my amazement, the tab is just hanging there. Then I looked outside and, to my further amazement, the world is flat.

Same reasons now as they were in 1992 when Mid-Coast Brewing and Jeff Fullbright were putting their craft beer into cans.

Plus you don't get any points on your man card for crushing an aluminum can on your forehead like you did when they were steel.

You wish... This equine will continue to be flogged for another week. Then someone will get a zombie version.
