90% of the time an infected beer that is supposed to be with a clean ale yeast will smell/taste like stale apple skins/golden raisins and be heavily over carbonated. This is my experience almost always. Rarely ever gotten an accidental infected beer that was sour.

Plastic, diaper, band-aidy. Infection is kind of hard for me to describe, but when you taste it, you'll definitely know it.

Yeah, beer infections aren't watery, tasteless, and clean.

You've never tasted an infected beer then.

There are these things in every spoken language called "jokes". People make these statements to often make light of situations and / or to poke fun at other things. My above comment was an example of a "joke".

If it tastes like PBR and isn't PBR it's infected!

Ive had some of the infected Duck Rabbit stuff that went around a year or so ago, and the Imperial Stout had a sour cherry taste to it.

I was going to try another one when I got home last night but didn't feel up to gagging. Ended up drinking an Harpoon's Pumpkin UFO.

I wanted to add that the floaty thing looked liked clear sludge at the top of the glass. I put one in the fridge this morning before work, so I'll try it tonight.

Better than the beer is supposed to (in some cases)

I don't think I'll ever get the appeal (or flavor) of any infected beers, intentional or otherwise. I just can't seem to wrap my palate around it...

I should have said vomit. The stomach acid taste in the back of your throat when you throw up.

I am sorry to express my reservation, but infected beer? Is it possible to drink it? Mostly I'm drinking average beers, and sometimes indulging myself I'll try something different from mostly accessible shelf. But infected beer? What does it mean, if anyone would like to answer to that. Please..

It means exactly what it sounds like: a beer that has been infected by a microbial agent. See my post on the previous page for common infectious agents in beer and what they taste like.

And yes, it's very possible to drink it. In fact, virtually all sour beer is knowingly exposed to infectious agents, chiefly lactobacillus. And pretty much anything listed as an American wild ale on here has brettanomyces in it, which is a wild yeast.

It can and does happen to wine as well.

I had an GD Titan IPA a while back that I'm pretty sure was infected. Tasted like nasty sour milk and bitter pine. Or maybe that's just how Titan tastes? Dunno, but I managed to get one down and the rest went down the drain.

Okay, I cracked open another one. It had a little fizz to it, but it was still terribly nasty. I'm thinking it's just the way it tastes. (Gawd, I hope not) I read some reviews, a lot of them said it was watery but no vinegar, pickled beet water taste. I also got a hint of copper pennies. Either way, this beer is just a no, hell no.

I haven't been unlucky enough to have an infected beer yet, but from what I understand it tastes like Milwaukee's Best!
