That's pretty metal! Seriously...I've seen the price of concert tees. :astonished:

Drop the "Sur" from the store name and it's spot on.

Oskar Blues. Love their brews, but $16.99 a 4pk of Gubna or Ten Fidy is a little high IMO. I still buy a 4pk here and there though. Can't deny the good beer

Ballast's growler prices are also WAY out of whack (at least last time I got a growler filled). At the brewery I can buy a 6 pack of sculpin for $15 or fill a growler for $14....wut? And a Dorado fill was $23 for a fill last time I was there, which is just ridiculous. I can get a bomber of Dorado at Costco for under $7 or I can fill a growler for almost $8/bomber...something ain't right.

I'm going to say Rogue because they were so much higher half a decade ago. I always felt it wasn't warranted because they were several dollars higher than comparable beers. Now many of the other beers are catching up to them, but I still have that bad taste in my mouth. They lost my business years ago.

I can't speak for The Bruery, Mikkeler, Evil Twin as their beers have always been at a price point that I do not consider.

Yup. You pay a lot for brightly colored bottles.

I have to wonder how many people who've said The Bruery have had a good sampling of their beers. Or any, really.

    Expensive? Certainly.

Overpriced? I have yet to try one that seemed too expensive for the quality I received in return.

Not available out side the local market, but Green Man Stout brewed in Asheville . At $20 a bottle it's $6 more than Event Horizon, and more expensive than a lot of better known and better stouts. It's not even BA.

We just got Crooked Stave in my local store. My wife loves saisons so I bought three 375ml bottles that were on the shelf with no tag yet. Got up to the register and it was $30 (so $10 for 12 ounce beer). Beers were delicious but I looked at one of the saisons and it had a ABV of 4%. If I'm going to pay $10 for a 12 ounce beer at least give me a DFH 120 so I can justify it with and 18% ABV.

Well, I would've thought that, but after trying a few of their more moderately priced, but still, compared to other great beer, on the expensive side (Monk Suffer Serious Sugar Rush, Yin, Yang, and Lil' B), I can say that, while they are good beer, none are anything I would consider great beer. Besides, what's the price tag on a 12oz of those Jesus? Gotta be like $15, right?

OK, must say this: Would you check the ABV when buying wine? Would you check the ABV when buying Scotch? Admittedly, the range of available ABV is considerably narrower, but if you buying $80 wine or 18 year old Scotch just to get drunk, you already lost. (Just to be clear--there are styles of wine that have ABV as low as 7%--they don't cost any less)

$12 last I saw. And I'm not paying for that after I tried it--just not good enough. And I don't mean not good enough for $12--not good enough for $5

Maine Beer Co. Just give us bigger bottles and we will buy, but until then no thanks.

What I think is sad is that people are actually considering buying Rogue.

True, True, I don't buy beer based of ABV but normally there is more of a justification in spending more money for a higher ABV brew. Most bombers that are $15+ are usually 10% or higher I find. Higher ABV means more expense of ingredients, more time in the fermenter, time in barrels, etc. No one is going to pay $15 for an amber ale. Also yes if I'm paying $20 for a 750ml of beer I want to get a little drunk, this makes me feel like that was $20 well spent. Spending $60 on a 6-pack of 4% beer, no matter how delicious, just makes me have to pee.

Yeah, $1 an oz is pretty insane. I already feel shafted that Yeti is $9 for 22oz, but, hey, that stuff is amazing and, for me, is the only consistently available, year-round RIS that everytime I drink it I say, "God damn, that shit is great." It's as good, if not better, than the seasonal ones I have to wait for. The biggest difference is that it's a bit more expensive. So, is Aun Mas a Jesus et al on that level? I doubt it. For me, anyway.
