If it means that I/more people get a chance to try a rare release when it may have otherwise sold out in a flash, then I definitely support that.

The KBS and Blacknote (and soon to be BCBCS) singles really annoy me.

Liquor stores in Chicago cannot sell individual 12oz bottles. It's a law in place to keep stores from selling single bottles to bums.

Wow. That is interesting. All apologies. Can they sell 2 bottles? What is the minimum? They can sell 40's but not 12's?

I guess they don't carry Uncle Jacob's or expensive Lost Abbey 375s or Belgians. Colt45 40oz or bust! They might have been pulling your leg too.

I think the limit should be 2.

You missed the subtext--people want to drink and to trade, so they feel entitled to more than 1 for that purpose. No one is telling you what to do with your beer once you bought it.
When you figure out what's wrong with it, let me know. I might concede. But I won't be waiting by the phone. You might have thought that sardines are a really bad analogy for beer--which also might mean you never had really good sardines or really bad beer.

Actually, my Colt45 line pretty much describes Chicago circa 1981-3, which is when I lived there... The more things change...

Yea, I had to buy two haha. Thought it was really weird. Im assuming 375ml bottles are sold? But not positive. Maybe in that case you would have to buy two as well? Damn Bums changing all the laws...

I have to trust the stores to do what they have to, based on the distributors doing what they have to, based on the amount of beer produced by the brewery.

It is what it is, and while I have been disappointed at times, I can't really complain. I seem to usually get my hands on at least a bottle of most of the beers I'd want to that are available in my area.

Right but whats wrong with wanting to drink one and trade one? Or drink both or trade both? What's the difference?

Nothing wrong with it--just learn to live with disappointment.

for me 2 is the right number but with limited/rare brews 1 may be the #.. if a store only gets a case then 24 people are happy

Of course. Resources are finite. To make someone feel bad for buying more than one beer is dumb. There is always going to be someone who didn't get as much as he wanted.

If its a one bottle limit that means your chances are increased vs a mutliple bottle limit. As a general rule if a beer has a 1 bottle limit it normally means the bottle count is low. It a concept of "more beer for everyone!"
