NoDa Brewery in Charlotte has a Chocolate Raspberry Habanero Stout called "Hot Pistol". Tried it the other night here in Raleigh since it's "Raleigh Beer Week" and it wasn't too bad.

Copper Kettle Mexican Chocolate Stout from Denver, CO. Nice taste, lacking body though.

Good looking list. Really, try to get a hold of Bomb! by Prairie Artisan Ales. Bomb rivals Hunahpu for sure and both are really outstanding beers with tremendous balance.

Oh, and I'm calling it right now; the Dark Lord variants I predict will be the most disappointing of the lot. Cheers

Hardywood Chocolate Heat would fit this mold, as well.

oh my, the Mikeller Mexas Ranger is a must try, technically I think it's a porter, but it's damn good and you need to add that to your list.

Your list makes me long for the day that Three Floyds distribution will make it just a couple hundred miles north. I keep telling myself that I need to drive down and get some. It just never seems to fit into a busy schedule.:slight_frown:

I'm not sure if you'd be able to find it, but Bayou Teche makes a beer that's brewed with cocoa nibs, local coffee, and locally grown chiles. Its technically a dubbel, but you wouldn't know it because it drinks like a strong porter or a stout. It retains the pepper heat and has a very interesting complex flavor. It's called Biere Joi.

Not a stout, of course, but worth mentioning as it is just about to be released, with two release events in Verona, NJ, and Boston.

Second on the Indra. Just cracked it tonight and it was tasty. That cayenne just sorta lingered on your tongue and in your throat. I quite enjoyed it.

Victor. thanks for setting me straight. I just could not imagine a beer containing even a little bit
of ghost chiles. Those Bhut Jolokia are off the scoville scale.
    • Jalapeno 3,500 to 8,000
    • Habanero 200,000 to 350,000
    • Bhut Jolokia 1,000,000
    • US Pepper Spray 2,000,000 to 5,300,000

So that beer even with a small amount has to be hot. I did some hot pepper tasting at work last week, first time with a Ghost chile. Pop a jalapeno - nothing, pop a whole Habanero - and it brings on some sweat and heat, pop a whole Ghost chile - very difficult to describe....

I think it is chilli pepper well done.
The heat doesn't dominate. It just sneaks up on you on the finish

The Ghost Face Killah is pretty hot but it's drinkable, I drank the whole thing by myself. There is also a beer brewed with Trinidad Scorpions (the new hottest pepper, hotter than Ghost Peppers). http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1464/79633 I need to track this one down someday.

Aye, it's really nice. I'd drink it more often if it wasn't so damn expensive.

Also, I don't see it around anymore. I think I bought it all one bottle at a time.

I used to eat whole fresh habaneros on a dare to get free dinners out of it. Probably can't do it any more with regularity... Had some dishes with BJ but not a whole pepper--not suicidal. Had some Yemenite peppers, fresh off the bush, though--not many people are ready for those either.
