I personally was a little disappointed with how little coconut I got from this one as well; it was definitely smooth, almost creamy, but there was not much coconut there. A solid IPA though; just a little represented.

Oddly enough, I had this when fresh and thought it was great, but yesterday, I opened one that said "Best by: 8/28/2013", and it did seem more like a barleywine to me. Probably from the age on it. Just curious, what was the best by date on the one you had?

Finally got my hands on a few bottles... Picked them up at Stone and they directed me specifically to let the beer warm to help expose the coconut. Turns out they were right. Doesn't have the sweetness I expected, but the coconut flavor is definitely there as long as you sip it and don't slam it straight from the fridge. A valiant effort from Stone but not quite what I think most of us hoped for based on the home brew descriptions...

Somebody said Stone's had trouble getting enough coconuts. That is, they were not able to get as much coconut flavor into what they bottled as they had expected. The video mentioned may have been made before they actually had it all brewed? But if it says it's Coconut, you expect coconut flavor. I bought mine expecting something different for $8. Haven't opened it yet, but from what I read here, it will not taste very coconutty unless I drink it warm. Maybe they should have shipped it all over to the UK where they are used to drinking beer at 55+ degrees F. In August.

I had Ryan's home brewed version that was much heavier on the coconut but not overwhelming. It's hard to expect a unique beer like this to be done effectively for the first time on such a large scale system. Same thing happened with Ken Schmidt's Mint Chocolate Stout, it was amazing on a smaller scale but the mint didn't come through as much on the 'mega-batch'

If I had I no idea that this was a coconut IPA, I would have enjoyed it for what it was. This was certainly not the worst IPA I have ever had, but they failed to accomplish the goal that it set out to achieve. Solid 88+.

Got my hands on four bombers. LOVE Stone, but this was just another IPA. A good one, but just another.

Recommended by the guy at the store so I said why not, at 10 bucks it was a great decision. Pours very nice into a pint glass and looked a beautiful yellow. I took a whiff and noticed it was very hoppy and not so much coco smell that I was expecting. I thought it was going to have a almond joy coconut feel or as pungent as sun tan lotion but thank god that it was just right. Pretty hoppy and definitely packed a punch at around 8% abv.

Split a bottle with a friend last night. This isnt' a bad beer, in fact, it's a solid IPA - but it's absolutely not a coconut beer. It's an IPA with a sweet finish, and if you strain and try really hard, you might be able to convince yourself that sweetness is coconut.

Yeah, took the day off and decided to crack this puppy open. Fine IPA, what I would expect from Stone, no coconut yet. Definitely not worth the $16 (behind the counter special price from PR market). I swore off IPA bombers but coconut drew me in. I'll try to enjoy this for what it is.

On second thought, I added some coconut extract, not bad at all.

$16??!! No it wouldn't be worth that to me either, but I paid state min $6.99 so yeah it was a pretty damn good IPA for that.

I highly recommend a few drops of coconut extract. Tastes exactly as I hoped.
