Did any of the bug farm/bug country show up? I got some of the saison blend but guess I missed out on the other stuff...

    I don't believe so.

    Whoa: ECY29 is in stock!

Edit: I just made a huge order for Nelson and Galaxy from Farmhouse Brewing Supply. I'm kicking myself for not holding off and going this route. I'm paying less on the hops, but the free shipping would probably make up for it. Oh, well.

I only saw the Flanders Ale and Saison Brett as far as bug type blends are concerned, didn't see any bug farm or bug county, but did see on ECY FaceBook that he is culturing up the Bug Farm and Flanders for release later this month.

Well that's good to see, I need to try and get my hands on a few bugs here soon. I do wish I had gotten some saison brett...

I have a Flanders Red in the works to brew in early September that I am toying with using ECY on. I usually culture my own yeasts and bacterias for my sours but am intrigued by what others have said about Al's sour blends.

I tend to go in the same direction as you for the most part, got a pretty interesting batch in its 6th incarnation that has gone in a very interesting direction. Having said that I've never had the chance to work with Al's blends and I'm very intrigued about some of his stuff, in particular for a few barrels that should be making their way to the basement soon.

Yeah, there was no BugCounty or anything but there was also a brett anomala strain (ECY04) that I haven't seen before. It must have sold pretty quickly.

I've got a couple batches with ECY01 and the samples taste amazing after about 4 months. I'm excited to try some of the other vials

I have a sour going with ECY20 (I think for all intents and purposes its the same as ECY01 nowadays) and I am incredibly surprised at how sour and complex the sample I pulled at 5 months tasted.

I just got some of the Anomala and have some Custersianus and Bug Farm from the previous batches waiting to be used. Damn Summer heat and shitty air conditioning in the apartment.

I've been shocked at how quickly they get very sour... ca. 3-4 weeks.

Looking forward to filling up my Cab barrels with Flander's Red fermented using his ECY Flanders. Just need to find the time to brew it.

Not only is it the quick timeframe of the beers getting sour but its the complexity of the sourness as well. Certainly nowhere near 1 dimensional.

True, should'a mentioned that as well. The Mild/Barleywine/Milk Stout blend I soured is really picking up some nice berry and citric notes from the brett, which goes well with the acid and dark & crystal malts. Really curious what this will be like 4-5 months from now, especially after it goes on peaches.

You are almost reaching Dogfish Head proportions of randomness with that beer. However, I am sure this creation will turn out well. Keep us updated as I see you have been doing in that old thread.

As much as I love bugfarm, $25 with shipping is a little steep.

My strategy (when I dont pick it up in person) is to have a cart ready to go with a few recipes in it to hit the $75 for free shipping. Their prices are good and they get all of the good hops as well - most of which have great bulk pricing.

That's the best bet for sure. I'm pretty well stocked on specialty grains and hops and the better bottle I'd need to age it in doesn't qualify, so I guess I'm sitting this one out. I just finally brewed a batch with the BugFarm I got at NHC and I'm hoping maybe a friend in philly can pick me up one there instead.
