Sorry to be the overseer of misinformation but it should be noted that IBUs are a measure of how bitter a beer is, not how much it exhibits hop character. Coffee and chocolate can be very bitter and are often the agent of a beer's IBUs, especially with stouts.

I think hoppy stouts suck, especially ones with citrus-forward hop profiles.

Many big imperial stouts have big IBUs to balance all the maltiness. This isn't really what the OP is referring to. He's talking about stouts with a lot of hop flavor, which are late additions to the boil and contribute only a small amount to the total IBUs.

Storm is too hoppy, IMO. It shouldn't even be classified as an IRS. It's really more of a Black IPA. I like hops, just not in my IRS. Same goes for a lot of the American style Barleywines.

Sweetwater happy ending. The aroma is fantastic. It's dry hoped with Cascade and Simcoe.

Fort George's Cavatica is worth a shot. It's pretty aggressively hopped and has a rather unique flavor profile.

i had that right before it kicked and it was pretty awesome. i did ask one of the WW brewers about it and he said it was not SC, but another Foothills beer...wish i could remember but i was about 5 deep at that point and talking about the WW sour program mostly...i'd def be interested in finding out what that was.
