If I don't by bland Mexican beers, what am I going to do with all my limes?

the Mikeller Mexas Ranger is a sublime brew that everybody needs to try, maybe the best beer I have had all year. yeah, I know it's not technically a Mexican beer, but it's Mexican inspired.

also, if you like great tequilas and mezcals, check out a Sotol which is the same thing only distilled from wild agave plants that grow in Chihuhua. Total Wine has the Hacienda sotol for about $26, totally worth it. nectar of the gods.

I went to El Salvador for two weeks, compliments of the United States Army... I had a free can of Tecate on the plane from Texas to El Salvador. I thought it was awesome, considering it was free, and they never asked for my ID.

I was in La Paz like7 years ago, its right above Cabo. Fell in love with Pacifico there, but then got turned onto a harder to find beer there called Indio. Drank it the last 5 days in mexico, non stop. Then like a year ago or more, heard HUSA was going to distribute it in the states, rekindled my past flame, but then was over it after 4 or 5 12 packs

Surprised nobody else said Indio, they all taste similar but I do prefer Indio. Just had some really good Carne Asada, the other night. Thin, fatty flank, marinated and hardwood charcoal grilled. Onions, radishes, beans and rice plus a 6 pack with some Clamato mixed in. Awesome, especially eating outside on a warm evening.

sounds bomb diggity. i live on the border of a hispanic part of town. Its 50/50 here on me cooking up some carne. most the time, this taco spot, will load a Styrofoam to go box, the big 1/2 part full of carne asada or meat of choice (roughly a pound after cooking), one small part with cilantro, one small with onions. a grip of hot corn tortillas, limes, jalepenos etc for like $9

Negra Modelo is an excellent beer.

Truth be told, I don't mind Modelo. But I don't understand why people pay good $ for Corona.

Vehemently disagree. I enjoy Negra Modelo. It's refreshing and flavorful, but I find Amber Bock to be sickly sweet and insipid.

Yeah, that's cheaper than I thought it went for.

I never had a Corona that wasn't free (to me). After the first 2 or 3 I stopped taking even the free ones (and that was 20 years ago). I'd much rather drink carbonated water--with or without lime.

Depending on where you get it, it's not more expensive either. Michelob is not exactly setting standards for low-priced beer and Modelo 12 packs are comparable in price to the lowest-priced craft and imports (and crafty and fake imports). If you buy singles or 6s, that may be different, but if I'm going to spend money on Negra, I'd want a 12. I would not spend money on Michelob--Amber or otherwise--except in a desert, with no better options.

Negra Modelo and Amber Bock might be roughly the same style (dark lager, North American bock, pseudo-Munich dunkel, etc.) but they're certainly not the same beer and more than Corona and Bud are the same.
I don't necessarily mind Amber Bock, but I'd say that Negra Modelo is A LOT fuller.

When I'm at a Mexican joint, I'll take a Dos Equis over a BMC.

For some unknown reason, any Mexican beer pairs WAY better with Mexican food than Bud, Miller, Coors.

Its all marketing combined with some sort of perception/nostalgia/romanticism/etc. people associate with that brand. Same with American lagers. They're all pretty much the same so why do some people consistently choose Miller over Bud? Or Bud over Coors? People pay more for Heineken because they see the word imported and a high price tag so it must mean it's higher quality. Or maybe it's because that's all they saw their dad drink while growing up.

Shit I can't even explain why some people like poorly made craft beer and have no problem paying insanely high prices for a really rare bottle of something they can easily find the equivalent of for cheaper at a local store.

Depends on the tacos... Habanero Mango Langostino taco might go better with HT--or Ruin10
    More Margaritas--just cheaper ones
    See #2
    Drink wine...
    :stuck_out_tongue:

Need more (and better) reasons. Dos Equis commercials? Free "beer"? Want to stick it to the Germans and the English? FIFA World Cup watching party and Mexico is losing? On a CIA mission and need to blend in? Want to get in touch with your inner Trotsky?
