All those ideas you listed sounds fantastic. Isn't there already a tasting room though?

ok I am going to try and end the circle, both sides have valid points I believe. A lot of these sours are nothing new, most have been brewed before even, so its not really anything new, but this year they have seemed to release these sours all in a row (enigma, berliner, wild sour all recently then the R&D to top it off). Also, what hasnt been mentioned is the introduction of two new fruit beers in the past year! Yea it was due to poor harvests, but we hadn't gotten new fruit beer 750's in a long time (that I recall at least). So I would say it has been an above average year for New Glarus, oh and we can't forget them talking about expanding the sour program and all that

Ideally I'd like to see New Glarus start releasing regular (aka shelf) geuezes, krieks and framboises. Even the occasional blabaer. One can dream..

I'd be very surprised if they added a restaurant -- doing so would hurt business at other eateries in town, and I just don't see them taking such a step. It's also why they sell beer for more than local stores. The brewery and the town have a very symbiotic relationship, and I can't imagine the Careys ever doing anything to damage it.

100% agree, even those pizzas are a food truck that are there a few times in the summer. Being that they give you a coupon book to go into town and get a free pint at a bunch of restaurants, I doubt they'll ever have food there (besides beer chips & cheese curds).

One thing I guess I would like to see is more brewpub only taps. I've personally never been to NG (the horror) but one of the reasons is there's nothing I can get there I can't get anywhere else. I still plan on going one day for the tour and scenery, maybe for a R&D release one year, but look at places like Bells, Goose, FFF, etc and you can spend the whole day drinking stuff that never sees a bottle, and then maybe take a little something special home that also never sees retail in either a special bomber or growler.

I'm sure Dan runs plenty of experimental batches. He should throw them on tap every once and awhile. We'll drink them

Yeah, visiting the brewery is kind of a let down seeing as you can get everything at Woodmans -- and for less money.

It's true. They don't want to snipe their local retailers so stuff is actually a little cheaper at the grocery store than at the source!

I think visiting NG is FAR from a let down....

I have been traveling to Wisconsin a few times a year for the last three years and being able to taste NG beers is a definite bright spot in what are typically dull business trips. I like that brewery lots.

There are certainly more murmurings of interesting stuff coming out of O'So and CW too. If they can pull it off and put out quality beverages, I can see WI becoming a little new Flanders of sorts.

If you can call a visit to that beautiful property a "let down" because you're worried about saving a few pennies on picking up the beer elsewhere, you're DEFINITELY doing it wrong.

It was more along the lines that there aren't normally any brewery only beers available. Heck, I couldn't even drink a glass of Dancing Man when I was there this summer.

Dan has made them before, just needs the additional capacity that this renovation of the old brewery will bring. Your dream will be realized in 2014 and beyond. Better stick around awhile longer.

They're a brewery, not a liquor store. They sell beer for convenience, not to fill the needs of beer geeks.

As for 'brewery only' beers, they offer 1 every 2nd weekend on August

I would venture a guess that they sell beer to both turn a profit and to fill the needs of beer geeks.

I would agree, spotted cow was a good start, then I tried nut brown, I think that was the first beer I really started to like sweeter beers, now I look past NG beers all the time, but my in-laws bought be their summer sampler for my b-day and every beer I tried in that pack I have really liked, especially Dancing Man, I would argue that that beer would be better enjoyed in fall and wouldn't call it a summer beer, but anyway, I realized that I am a jaded Wisconsinite who has forgotten how good their stuff is

I really wish they would go back to making some of their fantastic plain old "boring" awesome lagers from the past, like Bohemian Lager and Yokel.

    Sincerely, the anti-Sour crowd.

The past two years they've made both Hometown Blonde and Edel Pils. I would say one or the other or both could fit your request. While I thought this year's Edel Pils lacked the hops one would normally find in a Pils, to me it was a fantastic helles, that I could drink liters of.
