Was wondering if there were any real good beers brewed or distributed around the the state, I have a somewhat...buddy that moved there, but has no knowledge of beer what so ever. and for the area, i know nothing either. Any suggestions on some solid IPAs or DIPAs around there?
Please, if there is obvious ones, dont bash me, i'm mostly clueless outside of most west coast beers minus the 'buzz word' ones, just need some help

    Welcome to the site!

There are lots of good beers brewed in NC.

The fastest most reliable way to find them is use the resources of this site. Go to "places" and select North Carolina. Look at the Breweries they have in NC and/ or near where your buddy lives. Check out their lists of beers produced and their ratings. Once you figure out which do the IPAs (or whatever) then look at ratings to get names of beers to start sampling and taste testing.

Edit: For example, Pisgah is in Black Mountain, which is near Asheville. Asheville has quite a lot going for it as a beer town and Pisgah does some highly rated beers. Charlotte has some really fine breweries, etc...

Wicked Weed Freak DIPA is a great West Coast style IPA.

I tell you what. I had this for the first time at duckworths the other night. Great beer!!!!

To the OP.....pick up some olde hickory items. Their stout should still be out there in addition to many others.

and get the Imp Stout. Nothing against Hickory Stick, but Imp Stout is just better.

    Get him to get:

    NoDa Hop Drop and Roll

    Olde Hickory Death by Hops

    Foothills Hoppyum

    Foothills Seeing Double

All are sold in bombers and are available in NC in some area...you didn't say where in NC he was....that could make a BIG difference as NC is a big state.

Foothills is the one I'm looking forward to, if and when they increase their distribution range at least to Virginia. Easy driving distances to 5 states has advantages in 'hard to finds'.
