Hoping the weather stays to what they are predicting ... might try and hit a place or two afterwards as well. Thinking Bronwyn.

Jason, do you know if Backlash will have their Uprising series?

No idea ... no beer list was given out. Good weather, great beer & great people ... can't ask for anything better for a Friday night IMO.

    Beer list is here:

A little clumsy to navigate, but gives you an idea. Uprising series isn't listed, but who knows.

Matthew, Lady K was phenomenal. I was floored by it. Cheers!

I love trillium and night shift as much as anyone else, and I was a bit bummed that they weren't included too, but anyone who didn't go last night missed so e great beers. High Horse was killer, Bog Iron's lambic and some of the English mild collabs were great too, especially Jack's Abby's and Mayflower's s'mores. A good time!

That Lambic was the most sour beer I've ever had. Holy crap!

It was certainly tart, but I didn't think it was too overbearing. I loved it.

Regardless, it was nice to see a local brewery bring a Lambic. Nice change up from the rest of the stuff there.

High Horse was the best there in my opinion! ALL of thier offerings across the board we phenominal but the session ipa was really impressive as well as Beastie, the hoppy black rye. Keep it up guys! Bog Iron lambic in charrdonay barrels was a nice surprise! Slumbrews black ipa was very good as well. love this fest. Will go every year.

I have to be blunt ...

I ended up dumping about 10 of the samples last night ... seriously, some of these new brewers need to clean their act up or just not get in the beer business at all. No disrespect but do these people not think there is anything wrong with the beer or did they just say screw it and serve it anyway. Do other brewers not given them feedback? Couple examples:

Kretschmann Brewing Co Webster’s Lake Ale - Tasted infected or just a really haver ferment, literally gagged on this beer and felt noxious for a bit afterwards. Their Cold Day In Meistersdorf was a hot mess, tasted unfinished to me as well ... both were dumped.

3 Beards Brewing Co. Lumberjack Black Lager - Acrid, undrinkable and not even close to a Schwarzbier with fermentation twang that should not be there. Not lager like at all. Problematic all around.

Found some great beer in the mix though. I ended up drinking a bunch of Gardner Ale House's Pilsner ... top notch. CBC Ship Of Fools was really amazing. Screendoor Summer Ale from Riverwalk Brewing was a surprise.

I often wonder if some breweries even taste their beers. It is very dissapointing to get a sample of beer that I would discard if I had brewed it myself. I expect basic drinkability from a "professional" brewer.

Since we're being blunt. My friend and I dumped much more than 10. There was a lot of mediocrity last night. I felt bad reading untappd and seeing so many people go "best beer ever" when I feel like mediocrity ruled the day last night.

Can we talk about people that rate beers on untappd based off a 2 oz sample in a plastic cup at beer fests?

I'm going to assume you have a problem with it, so I'd like to know why. I fully understand the need for a full pour to properly review the beer, but that's really not what untappd is. The breweries are bringing these beers because they want you to talk about them, which is what untappd is for. There's no complaints when there is a 4+ rating at a fest. They will retweet that alot.

Can you tell the difference between a 3.5 and a 4 beer at a fest? No. But you can most definitely tell the difference between a 2 and a 4. If they don't want their beer judged at these events, don't come.
