Just had it at the tasting room, and it's for real. Haven't had Dissident yet, but between this and the Currant Event, Deschutes is building a pretty respectable sour program IMO. Anyone else tried it?

Heard a lot about it, but never had it. This is going to have crazy limited distribution, right?

Stopped by the Portland Brewpub today to pick my bottles up. Didn't get a chance to try it because I had to go back to work, but a couple of the workers that I was talking to said they had it during their pre-shift meeting and they thought it was awesome. They had cases all over the place in the main entry but they definitely weren't selling them as fast as the XXV release. The place was very quite compared to that day. Likely because of Labor Day?

Tried this at the Bend pub yesterday. Stumbled in and had no clue it was being released. Very, very sour. Lots of barrel in the aftertaste. Didn't enjoy it all that much actually. Apparently a pinot aged bad batch of something, aged for what the bartender said was over 5 years.

The Bend pub also has a trippel on that was made with a blend of house yeast and Westvleteren yeast that an employee brought back from Belgium. Tasty stuff.

I heard bottle prices were ranging @ $18ish retail, is that accurate?

$18 at the Bend pub, yeah.

Medium interest. Deschutes has been declining in the last year or so for me. At $18, and no real distro (from what I understand), this will probably never hit my lips.

Trying something new. Gonna make ice cubes from it on a string. Will feed in one by one. I think it'll have the dual impact of making me feel full & taut whilst prolonging the absorption so I can enjoy it longer.

...Now if only I could find a recipe for ice cubes.

I had it yesterday at the Portland pub and it was awesome. I love sours with a good vinegar lacto sourness taste and this one really has it. They need to keep brewing this monster.

I also had it yesterday at the Portland pub. I think it is great that Deschutes is still experimenting with new stuff. I hope they keep coming out with small batch projects like this.

I did not particularly care for Green Monster and the $18 price tag for a bomber felt a little steep. The beer was quite sour as others pointed out but I tasted mostly old vinegar and burnt sugar that I did not care for.

They are of course entitled to charge what they think is fair, but considering they've said it was a bad batch they stuck in barrels to see if it turned into something, $18 seems opportunistic. Hope this doesn't bode evil for Dissident pricing...

I liked it myself. Most of any vinagery bite dissipated after the beer warmed and a lot more barrel showed up in the finish. It reminds me a lot of Collage when it was young, and that's doing pretty well a year in, so I'm hoping this ages in a similar fashion.

Had it today at the PDX pub. Very sour. Quite vinegary. Got rather umami-y and rich (for lack of a better term) as I drank it. I didn't get any brett character. Thought it was good but couldn't justify pulling the trigger on a bottle.

Whistlestop in Everett got this in today if anyone is interested. They said they are the only place in the area to get it, but I dont know what that really means. I assume Special Brews got it too. Was $15.99 had 8 left around 7pm.

It's very good IMO. I would pay the sticker price.

I added a $2 taster to my Brewer's Choice Sampler (6 samples including BB XXV and Ben Brulee).

I thought it was great! So much in fact that I purchased the $18 bomber to bring home. I may sneak out of my hotel at some point this weekend to pick up another bottle!

I actually find it VERY interesting that BA rates it 87 and RB rates it 77.... Yet New Glarus Wild Sour ale gets 96 and 99, respectively.

Either NG Wild Sour Ale is being over hyped, or Green monster is being underrated, IMO. They are in the same ball park to me! I actually prefer the stronger presence of sour in Green Monster.

I haven't had the Green Monster yet, but I have had the NG Wild Sour and it is damn good. I am glad I was able to trade for a few of them.

I think there's a general trend that Portlanders rate harder than most of the rest of the country. With so many good choices, our standards are high!
