I'll drive to Austin from Houston for one beer...a Jester King beer? Yes please.

I'll make trip half the time just because Austin is prettier than Houston.

Feels bad. I'm so horrible at lottos. I always lose. I think it's because I'm smack dab in the middle of the alphabet. Been happening since I was a kid, lol.

I'm actually pretty solid at sweepstakes though.

I'm really bad at the Texas Lotto, I haven't won a jackpot yet.

Apple's stupid autocorrect and a dash of tiredness. I think it actually came out quite well though.

    And it's Rob, damnit.

I must be really bad at it, too, as I have yet to win the jackpot, as well. :slight_frown:

My bad, I was supposed to be out of town this week for work, and I am not, so I have been marathoning Trailer Park Boys on Netflix.

As of now, a lottery system for smaller releases (e.g. the 400 bottles of our barrel aged beer refermented with strawberries) is just a thought. We liked how the Atrial Rubicite release worked out thanks in large part to your feedback, but we haven't settled on how to go about releasing our very small bottling runs, and it may vary for different beers.

As we've said before, a reserve society/membership club may make sense at some point, but we're going through a lot of changes right now in terms of both beer making and how we run our business, so we'd like to reach more of a status quo before we'd consider it more seriously.

I honestly have started to really like the idea of "for on-site consumption only" for your small bottle releases. It eliminates any possibility of people hoarding and using mules. The beer might actually last longer then an hour. We don't get all need to get as much beer as possible for, aging, trading, etc. Beer should be about drinking anyways. Just my 2 cents. Although I'm sure most people will not like this idea

    There's good logic there. Thanks.

A main reason we (or at least I) like to bottle our smaller batches is because it allows our artist Josh Cockrell, who is a full-time employee at Jester King, to create some new art for the beer. That's a big part of the fun in the beer making process for me.

While our strawberry refermentation is a very small batch this year, we'll try to get a lot more strawberries from the Hill Country next year.

This is exactly what I love about Jester King the most. The small-hand-crafted artisan aspect. As much local, organic, and fresh ingredients as possible, with the proper love and care given to each batch.

Maybe bottle half, keg half (or 25/75; 60/40, w/e)? Only do 4 oz pours. Bottles can only be bought in person (a la Freetail or some other method) or are done by lotto. That way people who make the trip should get some (at least if they shop up a bit early on day 1) and people who can't have a chance of getting some.

Edit: I have no designs to mule or trade, I am giving away two of my AR to extended family who I've gone to RR with a few times because I think they'll love it. I just think people who can't drive to JK every other month should have a chance at getting some.

My reasoning for my previous method is based off of my experience with Freetail Peche'cus. It has never been bottled (of course it will be soon). When it was draft only it would usually last a few days on tap, giving people plenty of time to do what you do with beer...drink it. No that it is being bottled, all of the sudden, everyone wants to buy bottles and people will line up to do so (I'll be there). The beer was always great, its the same beer, but now the hype is out of control. If the Jester King Strawberry beer is for on-site consumption only, even if its bottled still it doesn't have to be on tap, the hype train will probably stay in its station.
