    All,

I'm hitting up LA on business next week. I am staying in Carson, CA, and I'm willing to drive 20-30 minutes to some of the better bottle shops. Are there any you'd recommend? I'd love to find some Russian River but it sounds like the stores that do get it in stock sell out day of delivery. I assume that is true? Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. I know this subject has been broached recently in this forum, but I figured I'd create a new thread since this is specific to the Carson area and not LA proper.

P.P.S. If you need any recommendations for Boston-related shops, please let me know! I'm happy to help.

In Long beach area,,you must try California Heights Market and Stearns liquor. Both strong joints.

Definitely second the Long Beach recs. If you're going to Torrance, visit Select Beer Store in Redondo Beach. Nice tap list and great bottle selection

Great! Thank you for your replies. I found Stearns through some research but I didn't know about California Heights Market or Select Beer Store. I will be sure to check those out!

Also in Long Beach, check out The Wine Country and Lazy Acres. They usually get some RR in

If you have time to visit breweries in Torrance you need to check out the tap rooms of Strand Brewing, Smog City, and Monkish.

You'll cover more ground in Redondo though where you'll find most of the above on tap at either Select Beer or Naja's (if you go here, get a large pita plate - you will not regret it). Rock & Brews recently opened as well but their beer program is somewhat of a mess right now.

For bottle shops check out Adam's Fine Wines & Liquor and Oceanview Liquor. Oceanview usually has RR on the shelves and it sticks around for a little while. Select Beer also has bottles but you'll probably pay $1-$2 more there.

Yes, yes, yes on the pita plate!!! Not that you'd be able to pass it up anyway once you smell the meat cooking. Damn, now I'm hungry.

I work in Carson and pass through Long Beach every day. Second Stearns liquor for sure, and The Wine Country is solid and just a few blocks away. I hit up both regularly. They will have Russian River if recently released, though their IPAs typically are distributed on Fridays and sell out within hours.

Lol I make the same trek, you at one of the refineries?

And to the OP, definitely hit Stearns and California Heights. Wine Country is good too although too many people know about it now. It used to be a nice little spot that people overlooked.

No, but in Watson Industrial Center just down the road from them. Wine Country still gets some nice things, but I remember a few years ago buying Lou Pepe Gueuze off the shelf. That was life.

I am seeing that you are a cigar smoker as well. Not bad. Check out California Heights Market. One stop shopping and compare the cigar prices as well.
