Ok thanks for the advice, so from my understanding Zwanze Day is like a night you had too much at the bar without eating first. You will regret how you acted, meet a few interesting people, spent too much money, and tried something you never had before then brought a whale home. Since there is no risk of STD’s I’m still down.

Is anyone else going who is new to craft beers?

That is blatantly false...at least the way I Zwanze.

No rubber, excluding maybe some late model Fantôme.

No. No. No no no no.

The idea is to drink some great beers with other people that (presumably) also love beer. If you notice, the general feeling for this year is a mix of excitement for what will be brought out in terms of beers and of dread for what kind of people we will have to deal with throughout the day. It will be very cramped, both at the shop and at the bar.

One think you will learn is that while the Chicago beer scene is a sprawling group, it has a very tight center. If you get the reputation of the guy that did that thing at Zwanze last year, it will be very hard to shake off.

    TL;DR: Relax, baby, be cool.

I also heard the second person in line gets a high five.

Being that close in proximity to me, it's a high probability.

    Hugs baby, not high fives.

    High fives are so lowbrow.

For those who've gone to this last year, would you say it is worth making the drive up from St Louis?

Isn't $50 significantly more than last year? Not saying it won't be worth it, just sayin/askin...

Similar to my thoughts. $50 for a glass and two 2 oz. samples seems way out of line in comparison to the prices I have seen a few of the other locations charging. If you don't have to buy the glass to sample, then $5 a sample doesn't seem too bad.

It's not a significant higher price. Last year was $40 for the glass and Zwanze pour. This year is another $10 and you get a pour of Iris too, not totally ridiculous price jump.

Am I correct in thinking that the $40 covers lots of other tap pours throughout the day too?

The 'sampling glass' can be used for something like 20+ other kegs and myriad bottles. You don't just drink your 4oz of Cantillon and leave (unless you want to I guess...)

Oh, thought it was like 25 or 30 last year. Yeah, not too bad.

the majority of the 20 or so beers on tap I drank last year (and the one previous) typically cost about 9 bucks a snifter at hopleaf/local option/northdown. Now lets stop talking about zwanze so its not overrun by bottle hoarding, truck chasin yahoos. Someone wanna post a meme of the picture on the first page? Possibly some talk of the movie the warriors?

Ah, I thought you just got a glass. Didn't realize the 'sampling' meant all the other pours are included. Tha't pretty sweet.
