Just moved to northern California. Feel lucky to live in Petaluma with a great brewery but where are the pumpkin beers? Dogfish head, southern tier? Or any for that matter? Thanks

Pumpkin ale is a style that's sadly neglected in Cali. There are breweries that make some but I don't consider them to be the best interpretations of the style. However, the aforementioned Almanac heirloom pumpkin barleywine is pretty great and fairly new, having been released just this summer. I hope more of these new breweries popping up pick up the slack.

You probably know this already, but make sure you visit Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa. Great store with great prices too.

Even the small brewery we had in florida made an amazing pumpkin beer that would rival any out there "Pegs cantina" in gulfport, Fl. Haven't been to or heard of Bottle Barn in santa rosa...very very new here!! I will check out that place when I go get fish from the santa rosa seafood market! Thanks grilledsquid!

I think I saw one from Anderson Valley around but I haven't tried it.
Midnight Sun TREAT is available around here when it's out.
    Check Whole Foods for Almanac.
Bottle Barn is great and BeerCraft in Rohnert Park posts new bottles on fb.

I don't think I've ever seen any of the Almanac reserve bottles at Bevmo. Check Whole Foods if you have one close to you. Also, not sure if you've made it out to the East Bay, but when you get a chance, check out Berkeley Bowl. It's a great market, probably the best I've ever been to, and they also have a pretty good beer selection.

I picked up a bottle of this at Beercraft - I'm lucky enough to have to travel to Healdsburg for work relatively often so I try my best to stock up on west coast goodies to bring back home. Haven't cracked it open yet but looking forward to it.

I thought that store was pretty cool and I like to support businesses like that, but their prices seemed quite high, especially compared to Bottle Barn. How long has Beercraft been around?

I haven't tried it yet, but American River Brewing Pumpkin Falls is getting great feedback. I've heard nothing less than outstanding.

Beercraft in Rhonert Park -- next door to Santa Rosa and close to Petaluma -- today had several pumpkin beers on offer. The Almanac, an Epic/DC Brau collab pumpkin imperial porter called Fermentation Without Representation and others. They are cool folks working there who gather up beers from around California and sell them for a very decent price, so go there and ask them what they have.

PS, if that is you and your dog, what breed is the pooch? Looks a little like our Portuguese Water Dog, but maybe different.

Tried the alaskan pumpkin. Good beer minus the fact....it tastes nothing like pumpkin. Coffee, chocolate, spicy YES, malty. I dont get pumpkin.
