okay, but if they're so understaffed, why are you tying them up on the phone when they could be serving customers? and why even bother having a tap list online if it's outdated by a month?

Seems to me, if you can't update your tap list at the end of a day or the beginning of the next in less time than it would take to read the entire list to a caller, you either have a very short list, or need to have a talk with whomever is hosting your site.

We really like to whine, don't we? Sorry for being blunt or uncaring but come on. If the bar you are going to usually has good beer, they will usually HAVE good beer. If you want the latest "fad" beer, they will twitter it, facebook it or host an event.

^ yup. perhaps try asking the bartender while there, they probably know what they have sitting around waiting to get tapped.

The "quit your whining, I just go to TH and order a masala mama 200 times a year" response floors me. I, however will continue on my quest for the best of the best.

Totally agree. People have other things to do besides switch out kegs and hurry to post them on-line so a a handful of people who only want "the best of the best" when it comes to beer can honor their establishment only because they have a beer on that allows such a highly touted beer afficianado to patronize the place. If you need to be enticed by a special beer to go out then stay home. My God this is insane. Is it nice if a beer list is posted online? Sure. Necessary? No. What else can there be left that HASN'T been complained about on here?

Not to derail the ranting, but just to pass on a good deal, Woodies in Plymouth has Furious on every day for $3 for happy hour. Otherwise very ordinary taps, though. BMC, Guinness, Summit, Fat Tire, etc.

More than anything I would rather drink at a establishment with a diverse line up. I really wish we would see more low ABV beers on draft. After tipping a few high ABV beers I just don't like getting in my car which is why I don't really go to bars anymore. When I have been in some of the latest and greatest beer bars they seem to have to many high ABV beers and out of balance beers. Years ago when I worked at the best beer distributorship(All Saints Brands) with greatest guys working with me we loved all type of beers including the high ABV beers. I guess I have come full circle and want to enjoy more session able beers. You hear that Randy Sprecher, Bill Burdick and Mark Stutrud? All three gentlemen you have one convert back.

I am the same way, which is why I rarely go to a bar and get beers unless my wife is driving me, and if I go to a tasting, I usually just sit and chill and drink water for an hour before I leave because I don't want the hassle of a DUI.

Mild is one of the least expensive Surly beers. Of course, it's $6 a pint. You'll pay it, and they'll take your money.
