Decided to create a dedicated thread for next weekend's release instead of posting on the other "Any News?" thread. Here's the breakdown of this year's bottle counts and pricing info:

    Purchase Limits:

"So everybody gets a chance at some, we're limiting the purchase of the 2013 to one case per person, per visit. This means you can get back in line if you want to. Or if there is no line, there's no limit. However, if we see more than 130 people in line at noon when we're ready to open the door, we'll drop this limit down to a half a case. (We may need to drop this limit further if there's a giant angry mob with pitchforks and torches outside, but we'll make that call on Release Day.) For those that buy the limit of the new stuff, you'll also have a chance to buy some vintage Gratitude. And for all "previously released" vintages, we're limiting you to one bottle of ANY vintage Gratitude, per person, per visit. Again, you can get back in line, or if there's no line, there's no limit.

For the 2008A, there's a limit of one case. Flatitude I, Flatitude II botttles have no purchase limits. And there is no requirement to buy current-year Gratitude for these three beers.

And YES, we now take credit cards."

I also set up a Google Doc for people to post what they plan on bringing to the bottle share:

    See everyone Saturday!

I've always wanted to try this beer since I first heard of it a few years ago. Wish I could make it out there but its not in the cards for me.

I'm curious, what's the difference between 2008a and 2008 other than the packaging?

I'm guessing the 2008 was the good batch while the 2008A was the not good batch that has developed into something that is okay.

    Cool...makes sense to me.

ISO: one bottle of 2013 Gratitude! As I said, I've always wanted to try this stuff!

"2008A is aging well, and the subtle burnt note on the finish has faded over the years, to a point where the casual barleywine drinker (if there is such a thing?) might not pick up on it, if it were not mentioned beforehand. But it's still there to be found if you look for it. We drink a bit of this one in our house on a semi-regular basis. So we'll release a bit of this, priced accordingly and of course with tasters provided so that you know exactly what you're getting into."

I'd be curious to try this and one of the Flatitudes against the regular versions, although $15 seems a bit steep for an "off" beer.

Agreed. I just realized I may be able to call in a favor from my bro-in-law to grab some bottles. What's the anticipation for a line like? If East End were in Philly area I know what would be in store but what do Pburgh beer folks act like around see events? Anyone traveling from afar?

If someone is going and isn't buying all their 2013 bottles, shoot me a BM. Got a wedding to attend so I can't make it. Cheers.

I'd be interested in a bottle from 2013 if anyone wants to set up a trade

I would also love a bottle of 2013. If anyone has the chance to grab an extra, let me know. Would love to set up a trade.

Something not mentioned which I just started wondering about...
The (100 or so?) "brewery investers" have first dibs at all things being released the day before. If they all purchase 1 vintage bottle, there is a good chance there may not be any '05, '06 or '07 bottles on Saturday.

I forgot about that part... From the 2013 Gratitude release post on their website:

"Also of note: Our GOOD BEER Investors will have first crack at everything we release on the Friday before release day, at the brewery location only, during regular Growler Hours. This is part of the promise we made back when we started the GBIP just over 2 years ago."

Hopefully there will be at least a few older bottles left. I live 5 minutes from the brewery so hopefully I can get there early enough and maybe (just maybe) snag an older vintage bottle. Thanks for the reminder stakem.

I got a family member on the hunt. If it doesn't happen I could do an IP trade in late Nov, or we could just share some bottles!

I'm in town from Denver, seriously, what time should I show up for this? If it was a Crooked Stave release with this bottle count 11am would cut it, is this the same?

And no I didn't bring any CS to trade but I know how to ship.

I honestly have no idea what to expect this year considering it's the first time they're releasing any since 2010. I live about 5 minutes from the brewery, so I'm going to swing by pretty early and see what's going down. I can update this thread and/or BM/text people that want to know how the line's progressing on Saturday morning.

Appreciate it. I think I will just show up around 11 and hope for the best. Its just beer, I'll live if I show up and there are 600 folks in line already.

The post says they are adjusting bottle counts based on the number of people there at 12, so getting there super early shouldnt be necassary. I would be shocked if there are even enough people in line that they sell through them all right away, but we'll see.

I'm getting there really early, but only to participate the the bottle share, etc. beforehand. As said above, they're adjusting limits down if a horde of people show up, so I wouldn't think being there prior to 11:00 is necessary.

Is there anyone on here from the beer investors that can update us on the vintage bottles after Friday?
