Port Omna (from March) and Solitude (from June) ANTEAD and MB are all sitting in barrels at the moment.

why doesnt Kane start canning their ipa's? or continue with bottling atleast....it seems as though the demand is strong in NJ, and the surrounding states.

Would it be fair to say that currently, Kane is the best brewery within an hour's drive from NYC?

this ripple sounds nice, will have to find somewhere with a keg, hopefully one of the places down here in the south will see a keg soon? Would be nice to get a growler, had Carton's boat for the first time this past week and enjoyed it a lot.

Peekskill was pretty good when I visited and I think that's within an hour. Captain Lawrence is that close too right?

I would say it is up there, along with Peekskill and Barrier Brewing and some would say Captain Lawrence.

Kane could be a little more than 1 hour driving from NYC, but no more than 1:15.

Thanks guys. Yeah I haven't been to Peekskill or Captain Lawrence. Both make good beerthough. I've been out to Barrier a couple of times. Really like that place a lot.

    IMO
Kane and Peekskill are on par at the top. Rushing Duck is making some good brews. CL has fallen off but still better than Carton. Can't speak to Barrier as I haven't made my way there yet. Kane and Rushing Duck may both be just over an hour away from NYC, depending on your jump off point and traffic.

Again this is just one beer drinkers opinion, yours may be different.

I also think Kane and Peekskill are the best of the lot. I wouldn't put one over the other. The other ones (Rushing Duck, CL, Carton, Barrier) are all very good, but not on the level of Kane and Peek, IMO.

Went down to Kane on Saturday. Tried Ripple and the barrel aged Overhead and both beers were phenomenal.

Also, picked up a keg of Head high for my home bar. Really excited that I can pick up kegs directly from Kane now. Looks like I will be visiting Kane a lot more often now.

How much is a keg (assuming sixtel) of Head High?

I had asked back in July sometime and was quoted $95 for a sixtel. Overhead was $115.

This is correct. Head high is $95 for the sixtel and Overhead is $110. There is a $30 cash deposit for the Keg. They only allow you to trade in/back their own kegs only.

    Hey guys,

I'm planning a birthday trip for my brother in law to Kane and Carton next weekend since both are close by to each other. Can anyone recommend any good bottle shops close by that have a great craft selection?

There is a Wegman's practically around the corn for Kane that has an independently owned liquor store attached, they had a pretty good selection of craft bottles last time I stopped in... right near the front by the registers seems to be where they have the more special stuff.

If you guys are looking for a cool place to eat, you can hit up Brickwall Tavern, its about 10 minutes from Kane and has a great tap selection, good food, and a cool atmosphere.

Brickwall has been my stop for two years and now Kane is happily added to the list (and I live 4 1/2 hours away). If only I can figure how to work those parking meters.

There's plenty of free parking in Asbury, only problem is your car might not be there when you come back to retrieve it.
