I think oyster stouts are great.

Basically, I'll try anything, but that doesn't mean I'll like it or drink it again...

as many have mentioned above, you're missing out by not trying #2. It's not my favorite style or favorite beer within the style, but it's quite tasty.

The 21st Amendment oyster stout is fantastic as many have said. I would try almost anything, but that beer was good!

I suspect there are people responding to this thread who do not realize that "Rocky Mountain Oysters" is another name for the testicles of a bull or a ram after it has been neutered (typically at a young age).

I would be willing to try all of them. Blind tasting would be good...so as to not be influenced by the name/type of beer.

The oyster stout I've had was pretty awesome...especially with oysters on the half shell. Odell made one for a local restaurant (Jax) and I had it on a number of occasions. They do apparently brew it with the whole oysters, but it doesn't taste fishy, has more like a mineral saltiness to it. Really good.

As for the RM Oyster Stout, I thought it was a joke when I heard about it, and to this day I do not know what they were trying to accomplish. I wouldn't drink it.

The rest I probably would never buy, but the Coconut Curry Hefe sounds kind of interesting.

Not sure that a lot of you are catching the "rocky mountain" part of the oysters here.... They don't come from the sea. Lol I've had it, nothing to write home about, but it wasn't awful either.

I've eaten rocky mountain oysters before and they aren't bad. With that said, I haven't had the beer, but I've heard and suspect that they aren't very present and are more of a gimmick now.

    1. Avocado Ale - Angel City Brewing - I can't imagine it being palatable, but would give it a shot.
    2. Oyster Stout - 21st Amendment - Bring it on!!!
    3. Coconut Curry Hefe - New Belgium - Sounds good to me.
    4. Spirulina wit beer - Free tail brewing - (its an algae beer) - Also sounds good
    5. Kelpie Seaweed Ale - Williams Bros Brew - Had it, liked it, would have it again.
    6. Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout - Wynkoop Brewing - Interesting...
    7. Bacon Maple - Rogue - Enjoyed the first few ounces, then it got annoying real quick.
    8. Pizza Beer - Mamma Mia! - Maybe on a bet.

I believe I heard that for that specific oyster stout, they actually cooked the oysters in the boil as well as using the shells. I may be confusing it with another.

I would gladly try all of these. I've had Marooned on Hog Island (which I enjoyed) and the first Voodoo Donut (had twice; enjoyed the second time only). Would really like trying the Wynkoop; that one sounds really interesting.

I feel like beer made with Kopi Luwak coffee beans (or any other excreted coffee bean) is more unusual that most of these. All of these are made with ingredients pretty regularly eaten. Civet turds though...

I had me a Kelpie Seaweed Ale and gave it a 3.63 so I guess I hated it.
As for the Pizza beer it was my first beer I ever reviewed and I also gave it a 3.66 and I wrote some praise about it then but now recall it just being a spiced lager mostly.

As for the OP someone has to be drinking these beers since they keep making them. I quite enjoy a weird beer now and again a break from the monotony of typical styles.

Ow and I have passed on the oyster stout strictly because I am allergic to shellfish. Not sure if its just boiled juice or shells but I don't feel like risking it since it makes me nauseous.

I even passed on it for just a buck.

If they were barrel aged limited release stouts we wouldn't even question them as being odd and they would be insta whales.

I would drink every one of those. Already had a couple actually

I have had the bacon maple twice now actually. Although the second time was just purely to see what other people though of it.
