Anyone had this beer on tap and think it tastes phenomenal or is it just me?...I've had it 3 seperate times from 3 seperate bars on tap and it tastes 36x better than when I've had it in a bottle...it tastes like burnt marshmallows or something on tap and when i get it in a bottle it tastes like a regular lager, its the weirdest thing..just figured id see if i wasnt the only one

Dude...I was just thinking this yesterday. Had it on-tap (in a 4-beer flight) @ Whole Foods Millburn-Union and was blown away by the "toasted" malts actually coming through like freshly baked goods.

Are they still contracting out the packaged product to another brewer, while brewing the draught-only at their Patchogue facility? That, plus freshness, could make a pretty big difference.

Interesting... I love bottled Toasted Lager, I will have to keep an eye out for the draft version.

They contract out the Toasted, Hoptical, and one more I believe. Last I heard Kelso from Brooklyn does their contracting. They actually had a couple different breweries across the east coast, but one of them started making an IPA that tasted a bit too close to Hoptical for their own comfort and pulled back.

I have a sixtel of it in my kegerator right now and I definitely think it is better on tap. I liked it already in cans but the keg is better. Could also help that I had to special order the keg and when it showed up at my local shop on a friday the tag on top showed it had just been filled that wednesday. Fresh from the source is nice.

You dingle. You should know they no longer contract Hoptical. That was a failed experiment.
