I think he's talking about ones like Moonlight that don't have a brewpub, no tour, and pretty much just drop off a few kegs with their friends' bars.

There's 2500 breweries in america, you can probably name 200 if you're good.

There's just as many great breweries in "unknown" breweries as there are in the breweries you know.

I'm fortunate enough to be a member of an invitation-only brewpub here in NYC, that was co-founded in early 2012 by Jean Van Roy and Shaun Hill. Obviously I can't disclose the location. But the place is fucking awesome.

Good catch. I read that then got caught up in my own mind on how much good "unhyped" beer is out there lol.

Tired Hands. Except for the fuss part: Every time they're mentioned on here, the thread develops an acute case of butt-hurt over growler fills or line-cutting at bottle shares. It's time someone put out a C&D on that shit!

Grassroots is so 2012... I'm sure Sean has moved onto an even more secretive 'pen' name for his next brewing project.

Indeed. I just think it's funny that the Grassroots name/brand has been around at least long (longer I think actually, no?) than the Hill Farmstead name/brand, but it wasn't until Brother Soigné and Arctic Saison and whatnot that some people seemed to start asking about it.

Someone mentioned RI and Newport Storm comes to mind. They are pretty decent quality but it doesnt seem like they are as easy to find here as maybe they should be. Doesnt seem like they are too coveted outside of RI based on reading this board. They dont seem to do much advertising and they keep a low profile.

I wish some of these smaller/lesser known breweries on long island and N.Y. get more popular... they make great beer imo.... no one looks for/wants them in trades...

Yet almost every well respected/well known breweries in N.Y. and the surrounding area all distribute around the country. .. no leverage......

The places I go to require using a bomb or candle in order to reveal the entrance. It's a secret to everybody.
