High expectations, but a very big disappointment?

Pretty sure he was saying the 2 bottles cost him $40 and I don't know about you but I think the XIV is a damn fine beer

You really tried every Lagunitas beer and thought every single one was bad?

I didn't say bad, they were just disappointing/not up to the hype, that's all.

The last three 6packs I bought were disappointments, SN Stout, SN BigFoot, and Laguntias Imperial Red, I am saving the other 5 bigfoots to try again in a year, the others have no chance of redemption imo.

Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Porter. So much hype and it tasted like maple syrup with a hint of salt. Meh.

Maine Zoe. I was expecting something a lot like Nugget Nectar, I instead got a slightly sweet amber that didn't seem worthy of any of the hype I had heard about it.

Well, with the rating it has I was expecting it to at least crack my top 10 IPA's. Nope. It was ok, but I'll take a $11 4 pack of Myrcenary over it any day.

"Do you enjoy throwing up every ten minutes Claude?"
Many of us enjoy hops. Not as many of us enjoy hops that taste like chives. Devil Dancer must be an inside joke for the brewers at Founders.

I have to respectfully disagree I thought it was enjoyable. Also recently had an 09 and that was very good as well.

I don't doubt that you did. Its an interesting beer for sure. For some its enjoyable, for others its completely revolting. I am squarely in the revolting camp. I am hopeful that a few years of age will help out the two I have left.

I didn't like Lagunitas Sucks. It was like drinking grapefruit juice. I bought a case based on hype and took back 3 sixers. I won't do that again. Also didn't like a lot of the DFH stuff (fort, immort, pearl jam). A couple of drain pours there.

For me it was The Abyss. I've had '09-'11 on tap and in bottles. I always ask myslf the same question after drinking it, "why the hell do I keep trying this shit?" For what its worth, the '09 I had a few weeks ago tasted the best out of them all. Never again. Also, Hopslam was nowhere near the hype that it gets.

Sorry, this is incorrect! Please try again. :grinning: Abyss IS amazing, and it's interesting that you picked the (supposed) infected batch, '09, as the best out there. '10 deserves that honor. But I agree that Hopslam isn't uh-mazing. I actually prefer Hop Crisis over Hopslam (and Heady Topper for that matter).

SN Ruthless Toothless Rye - especially since they were axing my beloved Glissade in favor of it.
