Alesmith Library Sale Updates

Today they had BA Kopi Speedway. They had more people in line when they opened than bottles available, so it was gone as fast as they could make transactions.

Meanwhile, nobody noticed that they had replace the BA Numbskull that is for general sale with BA Wee Heavy. That's right - more BA Wee Heavy. Which may be one of their best BA beers yet. Sitting there. Ignored by all the whale chasers.

So I bought one. And will buy another one the next time I go and the library has been cleared, or if I don't like the selection.

I was told that there was *very* little BA Decadence 2010, so that probably won't end up as a library sale choice. Six weeks left, though. People will get bored, and some people will get lucky with something or other.

 

Damn. BA Wee Heavy is worth swinging by for. That beer is fantastic.

 

anyone notice if they have any special grumbler fills going on? I have been craving some BA nut brown

 

Only special grumbler on was their Cream Ale.

I too am hoping the library sale crowd dies down in a couple weeks. It's about a 10 min drive for me, but I don't have the luxury of leaving early for lunch very often, so to be shut out is making it more trouble than it's worth.

 

Oktoberfest (Alesmith’s first lager) is available for grumblers.

 

It was probably ignored because it tastes like 1 part Barrel Aged Wee Heavy to 5 parts regular Wee Heavy. Easily the worst BA Wee Heavy they've released to date

 

Whoah. I didn't know they had an Oktoberfest on tap. I'll definitely have to stop by for that.

 

I agree that is really tempting for Monday.

 

I'll probably sound like a sycophant, but that Oktoberfest is tasty.

It may be rendering their name incorrect, though.

 

I thought this was a one week event, how long is it going on for? I'd be interested in stopping by next week for sure, but then again I don't really need to spend $20+ for a bottle :/

BA Wee Heavy is still found in some shops in SD, people who want only a few dollars more than brewery price. That being said, wonder what todays sale is..

 

Anybody know what they had Friday?

I got the impression, from talking to one of the people that is running the sale more or less, that there are only 3-4 varieties of beer that will appear and reappear. There are a few rarities that will likely sneak their way into this, but there is no way anybody will know until after the fact.

I think they also were fully aware that the first week or two you will see long lines at opening for this, and that things will settle down after a bit.

 

I thought they said nothing on Fridays. Just M-Th.

Anyone know how long they'll be doing this for? I get in to town tomorrow night and would like to grab something Thursday perhaps.

Only about 7 people in line today

 

They posted on FB an hour ago that there were only a couple of bottles left for the day. Safe to say those are gone. but there is a new bottle tomorrow.

 

Barrel aged Kopi today
