I'm on my second attempt without a single response now trying to trade for some Topling Goliath bottles. I'm offering up Atrial Rubicite and Viking Metal...2 brewery only limited releases...and some very limited, brewery only Freetail bottles and basically anything else in my possession and nothing but crickets so far. Just curious if anyone out there has gotten any trades for TG done and what it took to get someone to bite. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I know of at least one other trader offering similar bottles for TG who is having the same luck as I...which would be none. Thanks and cheers...

At this point everyone who had a bottle they wanted to trade, has traded it. If you want to get one, you will probably have to vastly overpay.

The demand is not even close on these (600+ wants on TG stouts)

I had to trade a Cantillon Blaeber to land a KBBS and I live in Iowa. I wouldn't do that again FWIW. KBBS isn't quite as good as MD either IMO. That being said Assassin was much easier to land, but not nearly as good as the other two beers. Cheers!

The thought that I might have missed the boat for now on these definitely crossed my mind...and to be honest I don't know all that much about Topling Goliath. Their brew are highly rated and from what I've read and heard, right up my alley.

Advice: don't bother trying to trade for them until they're released in greater numbers.

KBBS is one of the top five beers I've ever had. Morning Delight isn't far behind. Assassin was an A+ beer & the weakest of the bunch. While I know people are just supposed to talk about "hype" & "supply & demand" the fact that these are elite-level beers, taste-wise.

Add in the relatively isolated locale of the brewery. The low bottle counts (KBBS was around 300). The single-bottle limit for most of the people who did attend the release. The KBBS keg blowing at some ridiculous time like 8:30 AM, so plenty of people's only taste would be out of their single bottle. Then, yes, add in hype, supply, & demand.

Total it up. Delicious + bottle count + limit + hype + demand +.......

Honestly? Limited Freetail bottles & Atrial/Viking Metal aren't even in the same universe. If I had another bottle (I wish!) I wouldn't trade it for anything. Almost literally.

The beers are amazing. Just be patient & this year, or next year, or 2016, hopefully there will be Morning Delight flowing out of the taps in Decorah, IA.

That may be but I haven't really seen any ISO: Topling Goliath (except for mine) lately in the trade forum. Several new ISO's pop up daily for Atrial Rubicite so demand might actually be a little higher for AR now than Topling Goliath bottles.

I tossed one up a couple days ago. I currently have no TG trade setup.

The next TG stout release will singlehandedly boost Iowa's non-corn revenues by 5%.

    ^^^^^^this.

With bottle counts at 300 each, you needed to be looking to trade for these close to their respective releases. At this point, there just aren't enough bottles left and the people that still have them know they can pull some crazy stuff for them (from people that can afford to offer up some crazy stuff without batting an eye). In fact the crazy offers come to them. I mean when's the last time you saw a bottle of MD or KBBS offered up in a FT post.

Btw, the plan for MD being a seasonal in four packs is not speculation, it IS the plan. I've heard it straight from Clark's (the owner) mouth. That being said, things can change, but that's the plan right now.

OP, as someone who traded for each of these releases I can say that I'm not at all interested in re-trading them. I traded for each beer individually, am looking forward to drinking them, and thankfully dealt with a great BA each time. Despite what you may see on the forums, there are still people who choose not to maximize their perceived..or unfortunately ridiculously established...."value" of a beer. That said, as others have noted, the bottle counts were so low (especially on MD and KBBS) that many bottles are already gone.

If you need specifics on trades, send me a bm and I'll let you know more. Good luck bud!

I agree, the problem with MD or KBBS is that anyone left with them probably isn't looking to trade them so they're not looking to maximize their trade value. They most likely end up trading them because they see that ridiculous trade offer that they just can't pass up.

I'd be first in line. That being said, a lot of TX BA's were licking their chops win atrial Rubicite. It's the first TX "whale" that people considered highly trade-able. So you have a bunch of guys that never really trade flooding the forums with what I think are usually ridiculous offers. One guy wanted to trade me an atrial 1:1 for St Lamvinus. I laughed at him.

I haven't had MD, but KBBS and Assassin (and another pilot assassin batch) were fantastic beers. Like truly some of the most delicious stouts I've ever tasted... And still I think it's not worth trading away the quantity and quality of beers it would take to land them currently, IMHO.

Those types of small-quantity batch beers you have to strike while the iron is hot. I managed to pick up KBBS twice, once as a group effort involving BA Huna, King Henry and RareR DOS for KBBS and Assassin, and once straight up for a BA Huna (albeit with a past partner). That would never get done today, but that and other similar trades certainly got done the weekend of its release.

I was 7th in line so I was one of the fortunate people to get 2 bottles and also get to try it on tap. I've only been trading for about a year now so going into the release I told myself, if I get to try it on tap, I'll probably trade my bottles for something I've never had before. Then I tasted it on tap and told myself, I'm not going to trade this because it's the best beer I've ever had and I know no matter what I trade it for, I won't like it as much. Then people started throwing out ridiculous trade offers and I just had to bite. I had a buddy there that also got two bottles so when one awesome BA offered up Blabaer for 2 KBBS, my buddy and I each traded one of our bottles for that. The plan was then that we would each drink our last bottle. He opened his up at his bachelor party in July. I saw another ridiculous trade offer from another awesome BA of a BVDL so I traded my 2nd KBBS and an Assassin plus some NG for that. There are even less bottles now. It's not a case of people holding the beer hostage. It's basically just what maximum12 and mtrutlin said.

Just out of curiosity, how many of the long list of trades were for the heavy hitting beers that command quality (or people's perception of quality) beers?

People have just given up. TG bottles FT would be way more in demand. Assassin is probably the only bottle you might have luck getting at this point.

There is so much speculation in this thread that just sounds so grossly overexagerrated. Clearly they make a good beer but if it were the best beer ever and there's almost no bottles out there then people with any left would be pulling in complete BA DL sets 1:1 on a bad day.
