Its a luxury item, what can you do? Bombers in general are on the expensive side, for a couple bucks more you could get a sixer with way more volume. I have to set a budget each month so I don't overspend on beer.

I can honestly say I'd drop $30 to try Pliney for the 1st time.

If anyone is in the Boston area check out Blue Hills Brewery in Canton. Nice little tasting room, great staff and some very solid brews. The best part is that their bombers were $2 each the last time I was there a year ago! I grabbed a 12 pack... Not pasteurized so you have to get them home in the fridge quickly but since my brother lives 2 miles away we love it!

That's crazy. I could buy a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon for less than that. Some folks prefer Heady Topper, which is about 12 per 4 pint pack. I just paid $22 for a Bourbon Barrel Allagash Black. A bit steep.

Weheistephaner Hefeweizen is $350 a bottle. So price rarely reflects quality.

Boatswain sold in Trader Joes is $2.25. It's decent.

There were maybe 10-12 Plinys at Hi-Time Wine yesterday for 4.99 each. They're all gone today.

I've passed on a lot of beer over price. It's getting to be too expensive.

I totally get what the OP is saying. I used to cringe at paying $10 for a six pack, now I am used to it. And any bomber under $6 or so is a good deal, whereas I used to never buy bombers at all because of the price. Oh, but I'm still not used to Rogue and their inflated price point ...

Like others have mentioned, craft beer is an excellent bargain when compared to wine. I tried to get into wine appreciation 10 years ago but quickly grew frustrated as I realized that getting anything better than "pretty good" was going to cost more than $30 a bottle. By contrast, I can get beers considered world class for a lot less than that.

In my area Lagunitas Hop Stoopid , Lucky 13 almost anything from them in bombers is all 4.99 ... Deshutes Fresh Squeezed 4.99 I always have on hand they are excellent brew at a very fair price. I have been in other areas and seen the same beers for 9.99 yikes.

$5 for a bomber? That's a good price if you ask me. I never see many for less than $8-10. Most seem to be more than $10 at most shops around here.

LOL! It's $3.50. That's what's happens when you have a stomach virus and don't drink beer for a few days.

Can't stand when clerks comment on my purchase. Whether it be beer or anything else.

My spending habits with beer have no equivalent in any other aspect of my consumer behavior. Since I save money in various other categories, I'm able to accept that my favorite brewer persists in a bomber-only format.

At least I'm not blowing all this money on Hummel figurines or commemorative plates.

I set a monthly budget. I can spend that money on a fuck ton of beer that I don't like (AALs), some beer that I do like or will probably like (shelf 4s/6s and not-hard-to-find seasonals), or a little beer that I do like or will probably like, but not significantly more than the shelf beers (bombers, Belgians, limiteds, etc.). 99% of the time I stick with the shelf beers.

Also, a $10-15 bomber isn't a "deal" just because bars and concession stands mark up Bud Lite 5000%.

I would do, but my urban dwelling lacks space.

Alas, I drink from a simple nonic and a Duvel tulip like a savage.
