I love beer as much as the next guy. But I don't know where this "my habanero is hotter than your habanero" stuff is gonna end.

They're certainly among the biggest of the findable, mainstream Belgians. But the flavor profile isn't out of control, it's an attempt at a rounded beer, not a what-if thought experiment. I'm not sure if that's a defense of 'em or not. Maybe the Bush de Noël (play on words for bûche de Noël, a Christmas cake), darker and sweeter, that's their outer envelope.

I've had both of these and I wouldn't categorize either as...anything. they are their own weird (and bad) styles

Ghost Face Killa has already reached that level, any further and it's not beer anymore. I really don't think GFK is really beer either, you could add peppers to any BMC to where any base is obliterated. When obliteration happens it's not beer anymore.

I really can't imagine someone purchasing this beer to drink by his/herself. Personally I think it's fine for several ounces, but continuing to disparage this beer is getting old.

The most extreme fail at making a lambic is Miller's Kriek Lambic.

I did it. I enjoyed it. I reviewed it. I'd do it again. That said, I'm with you: I think people just like to be dramatic about it and continue making the Blackwater Series the site punching bag.

I couldn’t drink Stone Belgo Anise so I really need to watch out for Amager Hr. Frederiksen if Belgo Anise worked for you.
I don’t like black liquorish candy & anis. They can work in beers if it is very light but a pure glass of liquid black liquorish candy, no thx sir.

Indra Kunindra.. Loved it, but its a bit extreme in that its totally off the wall.

Rogue pink bottles are an extreme let down if that counts lol.

Doom was kinda extreme.. A beer like 120 minute would actually benefit from barrel aging I bet.

There is no Anise in Hr. Frederiksen. I can't understand how somebody says, that he likes Belgo Anise, but Hr. Frederiksen include too much.

Btw. There is quite much anise in many Gouden Carolus beers.

Lawson's / Vermont Pub & Brewery Spruce Tip IPA. Think of it this way.....get yourself some pine cones and green needles. Add a Jumbo Little Tree Air Freshener Green Royal Pine.....and add all reagents to a juicer and there you have it. While it's extreme in taste and smell it was quite enjoyable in some odd way. Had this freak at The Bruery Clusterfork.
