I guess I'm going to have to trade for a beer that is brewed an hour away from me

And I wish I lived closer because I know it's true. :-) its a pain in the ass calling around and having my 76 year old dad go buy it for me. Shit, the still on 70th and hwy 2 dropped a case of bcbs and ~6 coffee on the shelf three weeks ago. You just have to look a little, I swear.

I just got SUPER lucky! My local grocery, which never gets anything different, had La Terroir on the shelf yesterday. Took one to the register and it wasn't in their system. Clerk called the manager who came up with a 16 oz can of Tecate & rang it up for $2.39. I said that can't be right and the mgr said, "It's just beer isn't it?" Ha!!! I grabbed two more for that price.

Went back today to see if they fixed it and nope! Different manager went back to the shelf, glanced at the surrounding prices and rang up another four La Terroirs up for $2.99 each!!!!

Sorry, but I invaded a Denver thread without noticing. I was just checking on what the going rate was after getting such a deal. I'm in west Las Vegas.

word is that the bottles didn't have upc on them, so they had to go back and put them on by hand...or something. Looking at next week in stores

Can't see how the price would be different down here in Denver then the $17 they are selling for in the tasting room or any of the stores in Fort Collins.

"shouldn't be any different than last time" was what I got. But I don't remember what it was last time

last time (summer '10) it was like $9-10 but it sounds like NB moved it up to the top tier of LoF w/ transatlantique and folie so it should be $17ish.

i dont have a problem with the pricepoint, or the increase. i actually prefer it to folie so i dont mind paying the same...

I wouldn't mind the increase if we weren't seeing it for half that price elsewhere

right, and that does suck. but thats probably a mistake on the retailer's part and not reflective of NB. I know that neither of us believe that NB is setting variable price points based on location with their home region being the highest priced.

still, youre right, i wouldnt mind trading $17 worth of beer for 2 Le Terroir from someone who is getting them for half what Im going to be paying.

You say that but distributors aren't going to be selling it that cheap without knowing what they bought it for. So I believe the price with distributors is under $10 (no idea where the price is at). And people have said that NB taproom is selling it for $17. So yes I believe that NB is the problem with this one

I'm pretty sure they are though. I lived in Wisconsin until 2011 and go back frequently, La Folie ranges from $9.50-$11 there and has for years. I was shocked when I moved here and it was $16-$18. I buy a handful when I go home and bring them back in my suitcase rather than pay almost twice as much. A friend just moved to Georgia and finds it for I believe $12-13.

I don't know why, and any business is free to set their prices wherever they want, but it is awfully weird how we pay more for some NB beers locally. Some of it could be the local distributors taking a bigger markup, but I can't believe that's making up anywhere near the entire difference.

Even if the local distributors were taking a bigger markup here that wouldn't explain why they are selling it for $17 at the taproom. No middleman there
