. . . well at least for now in my limited brewing career. I originally planned to make a DIPA using Conan, first time harvesting a commercial brewer. Well, OG was 1.084 and FG was 1.023 and it looked like I had gotten the much talked about "lazy" late generation Conan. It tasted of cherry, plum, and dark fruit, with a bigger body of course; truly tasted more like an American barleywine. Hmmm, taste kinda like CW Y2K and I love CW BBBW . . . wait for it, I oak chip and bourbon this sucker. Well, just pulled my first taste since adding oak and bourbon and WOW. The bourbon has thinned the body with a surprisingly smooth monthfeel. The oak has cut the cherry flavors just the right amount and adds some nice depth. Last, the nose has some good bourbon notes to let you know it's there but doesn't burn. Going in the bottle soon!

Congrats...though I'm not sure I'd use frumpy old Mona as the "success" comparative. :stuck_out_tongue:

Isn't there a theory that the mona lisa is simply DaVinci's self portrait, which he then turned into a female form? To go along with the theory that the shroud of turin is also his self portrait, done via an improvised photographic method with chemicals that reacted to light? I have no idea if they are true, but I love the idea that they COULD be true.

But yeah, the mona lisa is frumpy and frankly doesn't impress me much. I think OP's beer is more like a classic Cadillac, you know, one of those beasts that was half a block long and had a bigger engine than most of today's trucks. :astonished:

To go along with the self-portrait theory, I've also heard that her "smile" is simply Da Vinci's normal, relaxed frown painted upside down. Find a picture of him, turn it upside down, and compare it to her smile. Judge that one for yourself.

Back on topic, though. The OP gives a great example of just going with it, instead of calling it a failure. This is a great advantage of our wonderful hobby.
