If there ends up being doubles if using the mystery method everyone just gets a bigger pour right?

After attending a few of the chicago beer lovers events, which land upwards of 50 people, that has never really been an issue. Unless one bottle of kentucky brunch gets brought, I doubt the entire crowd is going to be fighting to land a sip of one bottle

were these chicago beer lovers events held at bars? I think a lot of how this event will organize and work out depends on tribes. There's gotta be some regulations that they'll have to follow I'd imagine...

Not to be a jerk about it but if someone shows up without a beer they don't drink. I like the idea of mystery beers though but I think we need to have some way to keep this thing in check and not too big. I vote for password protected google doc.

Also, any word from Tribes on cover charge? It would be great if there wasn't one to drink our beers but I don't expect that.

    That should be a given!

I'm sure I will be buying beer+ from Niall, as well as some some tasty Tribes food...

I planned on showing up with 2 12oz regular bourbon counties and drinking all the rare stuff, does that work?

I don't think there will be any kind of cover. I'm trying to meet up with Niall in the next week or so to talk about the logistics of this event.

I dont know if this was answered already, but are we sticking to bourbon barrel aging or will this be open to any and all barrel aging. Oak aged sours ok?

I was thinking any and all barrel aging. More variety...

just bring good beer, a couple bottles worth, and everything will be okay. pour your "rare" beer for the schmuck who could only bring shelf turds and make his/her day. pay it forward, you know, all the good sh*t. don't over think it. to echo pointyskull, my vote is barrel anything. But i obviously wont refuse a pour of something that is non-barrel :sunglasses:

Dammit, I was gonna bring kentucky bourbon barrel ale but tiny pyramids beat me to it.

Definitely barrel aged anything... variety is always welcome.

I hope this doesn't become too elitist or "your beer is not worthy" sort of thing. It's beer - and if someone is a BA I would think they would try to bring something they like. It would be nice if all the stuff was barrel-aged - to keep to a theme - but it doesn't have to be only ultra-rare exclusives. There's plenty of obtainable off-the-shelf stuff that's barrel-aged that is tasty.

If you want to share an ultra-rare go right ahead, but I think the day should really be a bunch of BA's getting together, sharing some beer and then exploring some of Tribes offerings...

right. youre echoing my statement, or at least the statement i was trying to make ha. we are on the same page. However, events like this are good reason, imo, to open that beer I've been staring at too, and I think a few others share that sentiment. bring whatever ya'll want and have fun and eat antelope bratwurst and bison burgers (lobster roll if pescatarian, holy crap is that good).

Agreed, these are great events to open bottles you've been saving or been waiting to open with others. I'd much rather drink a great bottle with others than drinking alone.
