The show was decent but very contrived. I was hoping for the focus to be the visits and the beers more than brewing kelp chili beer on a train. Most of it seemed very forced.

was it anything like Oz and James drink? Or was it more like a top gear meets beer where they talked about beer but did silly things to keep people entertained.

I am surprised at all the negative comments about the show. I thought it was very good. If you are a homebrewer you had to enjoy the whole small batch brew on the train thing. And trying to convert "craft beer virgins" to craft beer is something we all can appreciate. Ranking the top 5 craft beer bars and top 5 Breweries in San Diego was interesting as was picking the right beer to pair with certain dishes segment. And how can anyone not think San Diego is the mecca of craft brewing after watching that? Any 1 of those top 5 (Alesmith, Lost Abbey, Ballast Point, Green Flash and Alpine, not to mention Stone) could be considered a top brewery in the whole US of A, let alone 1 city. Hangin with Greg Koch and having the tasting at the Stone World Bistro and Gardens was also good. And it looks like from the cities they are visiting in future shows, they nailed it as far as great beer cities. I am not sure what people want in a beer show, but there is not that much more they could have given you if you are a beer lover.

I really, really liked it honestly. I thought the guys were funny, I thought they did a good job educating about beer, and I really think it has a chance to be a successful show. They fit a lot of info and a lot of different segments into that one hour.

The idea that they have to brew a wacky beer every episode is a bit silly, but could be entertaining as long as they sometimes admit that it doesn't taste good...because the odds that all of these crazy things will taste good is obviously very slim.

Agreed. I was pleasantly surprised with the show. I was a bit skeptical, but overall I really enjoyed it.

I missed the first few minutes but watched the rest. I thought it was very entertaining and interesting. It was really cool seeing and hearing about some of my favorite breweries, including Stone, Green Flash, and Ballast Point. I love the extra exposure these great beers are getting. It can only be a good thing for the industry and for fans of craft beer, and maybe it will even convince some BMC drinkers to get out of their comfort zones.

I enjoyed the hosts from BrewDog and Greg, too. Brewing the beer on the train was unnecessary and gimicky, but I didn't mind. It was still entertaining, and I'd love to try a scorpion chili beer. I had no problem understanding the guys at all. Their accents weren't that thick. And I agree with those who want to go to San Diego this second. I've only been there once when I was a kid, and I loved it even then. With the great beer choices I'd love it even more now I'm sure. I'll definitely watch again.

The beer they brewed on the show last night sounded quite interesting, they used sea kelp, scorpion chili and rosemary in an IPA. Sounds sick but I'd probably try it lol

I have time warner and got the channel on my HD search under the shows and see if it list it should be availalbe

as far as the show was pretty good I like these guys but they could have found better places down in SD was a bit commercialized breweries that were mentioned although I still like them and usually always go to Alesmith and
Green flash is a nice brewery to hang out and has awesome food trucks and nice little outside patio area
The beer they brewed sounded disgusting I think I would take one sip and drain pour
anyway looking forward to the rest of the series it is definite entertaining

I was suprised to find this flipping through the channels before bed last night. The whole Top Geer ripoff extreme brew schtick was pretty over the top, but I was drooling over the local SD IPAs. These guys are hard to watch, but still nice to have something craft brew related on TV.

Didn't care much for the hosts, and I am not particularly interested in the whole brew weird and extreme beers in weird and extreme settings schtick. There were some interesting features though, the pairing of beer & food for example. Probably will continue to watch it, though can see myself zoning out at times

Are you talking about the law that prohibits bottle shops from selling beer for onsite consumption? It has to do with the clause that requires a separate liquor license for onsite and offsite consumption, where a single entity is not allowed to hold both licenses. This law definitely holds in Colorado, but is not a law in all states. I know that this law does not apply in WA, because Chuck's Hop Shop allows you to have a pint while getting your growler filled and shopping for other bottles to take home. This is why you don't see bottle shops in CO dedicated to only craft beer, because the profit margin is not high enough without being able to sell beer from a keg. I assume that CA has similar laws as WA in this respect, which would explain why people are able to drink a brew while shopping for bottles in San Francisco. I would love to be able to try some beers while I buy some - sounds like it is time to start petitioning our government here in CO to make some changes. Does that answer your question?

Actually, I'm not really. Besides, it's kinda mean to call someone that. I have a fantastic time every time I visit North Carolina, and everyone is enormously cool. I don't think they're just pretending to be nice, I am certain they ARE nice. Most of them anyway! ;-]-==

    One person's opinion...
    cheers greg

edit: we'd love to have your products' presence here in WV soon

I was so into it for about 10 minutes, then they went into some gimmicky bullshit of brewing in a train car and flipped back to Sopranos.

It is, in that there are 2 guys and the subject is alcohol. Other than that, not so much. Why?

thats always been one of my favorite shows, so i was really hoping that it would be along those lines. What it really sounds like is almost a Top Gear with beer, silly challenges that keep people entertained who may not care for the actual reason for the program to begin with.
