Greg, if everyone liked you then there would be something wrong ... right? Name calling is obviously not necessary, IMO it defeats or cheapens the name callers opinion or comment but I figured I'd give them a chance to expand on it.

Regardless, great to see you on the show. See you at GABF?

I thought it was a pretty good show. Enough focus on the beer and SD brewing scene to be informative and interesting to a BA, and enough entertainment to be interesting to the broader audience.

Did anyone else think it was odd that Stone brewing was prominently featured on the show, but wasn't one of the Top 5 SD breweries?

Is not every brewery a "capitalist agenda"?

They specifically mentioned before they read the top 5 that "Besides Stone, these are the top 5 SD Breweries".
I think they figured it would be "grandstanding" to name them #1 while they were being featured in that episode.
And they would be #1 IMO and I say that irrespective of the fact that Greg is reading these posts and I am trying to get a "like" out of him.

I agree with the trying too hard part. They should focus on what people like about beer. An Alton Brown-style beer show would be more appealing than this over glamorized, extreme perspective. "Getting foggy..." Really.

I liked the show... but wished it was in English.

I liked the show, even though it was contrived and pretty much a ripoff of the DFH show. I guess that isn't surprising given the comparison of BrewDog's methodology to DFH's. The duo are pretty funny though.

glad Greg gave a nice showing for several local beers. Good man. The 5 best beer bars seems like total BS or paid-promo listings. How can neither O'briens or Toronado be on there? Very odd and seems like some hidden politics or marketing $$$ were at work.

Yeah I don't really like the new trend in brewing where everyone is brewing a beer with peppers now. I've had some that were subtle and worked very well with the beer but if it's just straight up hot and burns, it ruins the beer imo.

It was a good show, for the most part. I was hoping for a bit more beer **** and a bit less "did you know craft beer is a thing now?" but I understand why they want to appeal to a broader audience. Recording the series on DVR and will watch while drinking beer.

My only complaint is someone woke up in the middle of the night & stopped my recording of this episode (Father-in-law I suspect). But I'm sure it will be on again as it is a "new" channel

My wife and I both enjoyed it. Probably would've been happy to watch them go to awesome brewery after awesome brewery, drink and pair food for the full duration of the show, but that might not be for everyone. I thought the train-brewing deal was a little silly but at least the brewing process and ingredient selection was interesting. Had a feeling everyone was going to like whatever they made, though!

I was thinking the exact same thing...how can you feature stone and then not name them 1?

Then I read this, but definitely didn't catch that while watching.

Awesome to see Greg jump in in this thread! Really enjoyed the show and Stone is awesome. Talked to Greg at Savor in NYC, he was incredibly friendly and very cool to talk to.

One moment in the show was almost Fellini-esque; when they talked to the "craft beer virgin" with all the tats and he said the beer they gave him (can't remember which one) reminded him of PRUNO! And he was dead honest about it. And they seemed delighted to hear the description! And appeared to agree! That has to be the purest condemnation I have ever heard.

Anyone who doesn't know what pruno is, here's the quick definition
Pruno, or prison wine, is an alcoholic liquid variously made from apples, oranges, fruit cocktail, ketchup, sugar, milk, and possibly other ingredients, including crumbled bread. Bread supposedly provides the yeast for the pruno to ferment. Pruno originated in (and remains largely confined to) prisons and jails, where it can be produced cheaply, easily, and discreetly. The concoction can be made using only a plastic bag, hot running water, and a towel or sock to conceal the pulp during fermentation. The end result has been colorfully described as a "vomit-flavored wine-cooler"
