I'll be in Chicago Thursday-Sunday. As it seems a lot of bars don't regularly update their beermenus pages or post on the events page here, looking for some advice.

Are there any beer related events going on this weekend? Any bars with particularly fantastic draft/bottle lists currently?

Also, are there a group of bars within reasonable walking distance of each other that we could hit up as a little beer bar crawl? We're staying at the Hotel Allegro, but have no problem venturing to other neighborhoods.

Also, just wondering what people's favorite bars are.

    Thanks!

I notice that Half Acre is releasing Double Daisy Cutter Friday.

    So there is that.

Now that is EXACTLY the kind of news I was hoping to find!

Thanks...any heads up on places to find it would be much appreciated.

Just looked that one up...sounds delightful.

Are these (Deth's Tar and Double Daisy) both brewery-only releases?

Looking for this same info. I'll be in Chicago in the coming week for a few days, and was hoping to at least be able to pick up Deth's Tar.

There's plenty of Deth's Tar and it's already popping up at stores. DDC usually gets distributed but no idea if it will be in stores by this weekend. If you're both coming from out of state, just go get it at the source.

While they will probably see some distribution, it may be a week or two away. Probably have to hit the breweries for them this weekend.

I think that Double Daisy Cutter is brewery only....

just go to the brewery -- their tap room next door is pretty sweet, worth hanging out for a beer or two

From Hotel Allegro, Monk's, Stocks and Blondes, and Franklin Tap will be your closest craft beer bars. You can easily walk to any of these from your hotel. Monk's and Franklin tap update their beermenu page. There is a newer place in the wrigley building with hundreds of taps, but i have never been there.

Otherwise, I would say take the blue line up to revolution's brewpub (not sure if you would be able to buy bottles of the DT there are if you need ot go to the kedzie brewery tho) and do yourself a favor and stop and map room and/or piece on your way home (also off of the blue line).

i'll reiterate DDC is brewery only release right now.

EDIT: Also, pipeworks usually drops their latest beer into the market midweek so guessing something will hit today (ninja vs unicorn????) but you'll need to hit up a liquor store for that.

The new place with hundreds of taps is in the Tribune building (across from the Wrigley bldg) and I think it's called Howells and Hood; skip it. Horribly overpriced (had 4 beers, $72). If you're at Revolution brewery and hey don't have Deth's Tar, check Vas Foremost Liquors a half block down Milwaukee ave. they usually have a pretty good selection.

haha, see i haven't bee there

Excellent call on the Vas, they should also have pipeworks brews in there. i would highly recommend those (except, have a bottle of the poivre vert, sorta scared to try it).

Yeah Howell's and Hood sounded like it had potential, but it's "hundred taps" has a lot of repeats and is mostly common stuff. Rarely do they have something there that you haven't seen everywhere else.
