Southern Tier 2x IPA fits the bill and is a regular in my rotation.

I live in Frederick so the Truth that I've been sampling may be more fresh than others. I think it has a great fresh hop aroma.

FD has been making improvements on their hopped up beer lineup in last year or 2. IMO they should just retire the Snake Dog and Double Dog. Both of those are sub-par and a waste. The Truth (new year round staple lineup beer) as well as recent small batch releases of Centinnal, El Dorrado and Citra have all been very solid high ABV / highly hopped IPAs.

I saw some comparisions to Hoptimum and Sucks, but aren't both of those seasonal releases? We're supposed to be comparing to easy to find, reasonably priced year around beers here. Maybe Torpedo is the closest comparison I can think of.

Sucks is also great for the price along with the Enjoy By's.

Sucks or Double Jack seem like a good choices to me.

Love Hopstoopid. I often use it as a 'warm up' to a six of Two Hearted, or some other IPA, but I'm often just a little disappointed when I get to the main course.
Tried Hoptimum once. Tastes very smooth, but not a good empty stomach beer.

I like the idea behind this thread. I've been lucky enough to have Heady once and it was just fantastic, but I'm never going to be able to buy it regularly so I don't even really count it when discussing my favorite DIPAs.

I'd say Sucks is my winner for "easily attainable" but I haven't had Truth yet. I have high hopes for Dirt Wolf as well. I'm spoiled locally in that I can get Gandhi Bot whenever I want, which is nice.

Around here, a six pack of ruination (probably really old) cost 15-16 dollars...
I've never had "The Truth", but I'll look for it. In general, I've been seriously unimpressed with Flying Dog's beers. Hard to imagine a better deal than NEB's Sea Hag though. 10 dollars for a six pack of world-class IPA...

This a a readily available beer in six packs for a reasonable price?

+1 to Ruination, but it is expensive as a "go-to." That is why my standard is Outburst! I mean, it isn't nearly as hop forward as other, better DIPAs but damn if it is cheap and everywhere.

Does Troegs Perpetual not count? I guess it's distribution is fairly limited to most of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Ruination and Double Jack are both favorites of mine, but pricier in my neck of the woods and hard to find in 12 ouce format.

I don't really stock many DIPAs at home - probably for the reasons that make The Truth appealing to you. Tough to find reasonably-priced, 12-ounce format. Haven't seen The Truth in Boston, I'll give it a go if it shows up.

My go to is Ruination. Tastes great, top notch consistency and availability. For seasonal....might have to go with Bell's Oracle.

CT doesn't get Troegs and that makes me sad. Perpetual is awesome and I love Sunshine Pils.

I think Flying Dog is planning expanding distro on the The Truth, but for now its still not widely available. I like 2x IPA for availability and price.

Great call on DFH 90 Minute. As I proved, it gets overlooked probably because you can find it most anywhere. It is 4 packs though, and at roughly $9.99, it might fail in the Price criteria due to the $15/sixer tag.

No Truth in my area so I can't comment on that. I would go Sucks, I just wish it was a year round brew. Maximus is very high on my list too.

If you don't pick a beer from SoCal, you're wrong. It's the only place in the country that cranks out high-quality, award winning DIPAs year-round and they are very easily accessible if you live in the area.

I completely agree with you, and if this was available year round, I would have to say this. I think if both this and Hopslam were both available year round though, I would pick Hopslam. With all this said, Green Flash Imperial IPA is my choice. By the way, look out for a name change next year to Alchemy Hour.
