I am relatively new to craft beer (~6 months) and don't have any friends that are into it like me. I couldn't find anything on the forums here, so I am wondering if there are any BAs in the area that would be interested in an occasional meet up.

I'm in Cedar Rapids, and am interested in bottle shares any time, anywhere. It's a great way to try new things. I am in the process of planning my next tasting, and theme. I can keep you posted.

If you want to host one ever let me know, as I already have a solid group of people that I go to tastings with. Allot of very good beers, and good people.

We do a bottle share in my neighborhood nearly every weekend...which typically entails me bringing out 2-3 bombers and 2-3 other beers to share as I'm the primary beer guy in the 'hood. One other guy is getting into it, but doesn't research and drinks so much volume that nothing stays long on this shelf.

I also go to northern Illinois quite a bit and have easy access to New Glarus and some other beers we don't get here.

IC here. Always interested in trying different/new brews. Couple of us gents get together and share brew a few times a month. I'm interested in some bottle share with BAs.

Thanks everyone, looking forward to it. I also go back to Chicago fairly regularly so I can bring back stuff that isnt distributed here if anyone wants anything specific.

I'm always up for any of the Pipeworks Abduction beers, or Berliners.

Hey there fellow Iowa BA craft beer lovers. I am also interested in bottle sharing parties in the iowa city area. I currently am in chicago finishing up school, but head back to IC routinely and will be moving back within the year. I'd be interested in setting up/hosting/attending tasting parties. I have access to all of the chicago locals that aren't distributed to iowa, and have a pretty solid cellar (yes, redblacks75 I scored a bottle of the latest pipeworks release...cherry truffle abduction). Keep me posted on possible rendezvous and jjohnston884 shoot me a bm on details of your OCT 6 tasting as I will be in the area that weekend for the Hawkeye football game. cheers Iowa BA members

Thanks jjohnston884 for the info, I will be out of town that weekend though. Is anybody going to the Iowa City Brewfest this weekend?

I'll be at the Brewfest in IC. I saw on FB post from John's that TG will not be there, and all IA breweries will be bottle not draft.

Bottles? That would be weird, considering they're including glassware with admission and have stated multiple times that they will be pours. Whatever, I really don't want any of the local beers anyway. Pretty excited to finally try some Hill Farmstead.

Yea, shocked to see HF on the list. I got the early admission, so hoping to get some pours of HF. My long tradition of shit luck has me skeptical.

Here's the explanation for TG's absence from Brewfest, from John's Grocery FB:

"Nope, the state changed thier rules (reason #1 for my current ulcer) and they could not bring down equipment to pour draught, so almost all of the Iowa Breweries are just doing bottles. No bottles-No Beer..."

Anybody have any idea what this rule change is?

Yah, I'm hoping its not all gone before general admission can get in. That's the first place I'll be going

This rule must've changed recently no? Didnt TG make it to a Millstream event not too long ago?

Have you ever been to a beer "fest" in Iowa. They should be called beer tastings. Usually they do provide glassware and then just give you a pour out of a bottle. A "fest" to me involves brewers and people from the actual brewery(not just distributor reps, salespeople, etc.), maybe bringing a special beer or something and pours from a keg. But hey, what do I know?

Not so shocking really. Abu Nawas is an official distributer of HF, and the only one West of PA I believe.
