Kate the Great, any hope?

Seeing as you've offered no other information, have only been a member here since June, have no trades listed in your profile and list Old Stock as your only "got" - I'm going to comfortably say, maybe?

 

If you have Dave, yes.

If you have Old Stock, no.

If you have other beers, maybe.

 

Nah, it's possible. Just bring more stuff more rare than Old Stock.

 

The fundamental rule of trading: similar $, similar bottle count, similar distro will get it done. Might take a while to reach the right eyes, but 95% of the time this is the simple truth.

From what I can tell, KtG has lost some of the hype around it, which works in your favor. There was a time that it might have been in the 5% of exceptions, but I don't think that's true any more. It's no longer one of the cool, hot, new, exciting instawhales; just a solid, brewery-only, limited release.

 

Ktg is a girl you'd marry, not the girl you'd want to be with if you were on death row.

 

KtG has been traded for some Heady Topper (very recently, too). So it's more than possible.

 

I got a bottle a few months ago in a trade for West Coast vs. East Coast beers

 

Is KtG made every year?

 

2012 was the last year

 

As Kramer would say KtG are a dump stock. They have been popping up everywhere recently. I would say most HF releases would land one or any decent brewery release.

 

i couldn't imagine any vintage of KtG being what it once was at this point. my suggestion...move onto something newer and fresher. kate was great....but now...she's gone.

 

Isn't KtG kinda 'over'? I've only had it once, and it was dubbed Kate the Average....just sayin'

 

Whatever you would have to trade for KtG will be better than KtG.

 

^^^ this is exactly right from my perspective as well.

 

KtG '11, as of 5 months ago, was f'ing delicious. I think it's easier to get now than it was a year ago, so either quantity of something good (16x heady topper for Kate '11 just got done) or something "rare" but not stupidly rare would get it done. King Henry 1:1 maybe? I dunno.

 

Surprised people are crapping on KTG, I had a 2007 recently and it was great.

 

I traded one 1:1 for RareR DOS when that was first released. I would have been happy with the trade, if the trader hadn't sent me a growler with a nick in the side that caused liquid to leak inside and the growler to be totally flat.
