Trying to get my hands on some of Russian Rivers stuff to try for the first time (I am a noob to better beer). I was just curious if they have any kind of set distro calendar so I know when to look for it. Thanks for the help!!

from what I've heard stores get what they get whenever the hell RR can give it to them, in short who the hell knows when a particular beer will come in

Never hurts to ask the store, they can usually tell you if they are expecting anything soon.

Based on what I've seen on shelves, it seems there is no pattern or schedule of any sorts. I've seen times we've had lots of RR on shelves and others when we had nothing. When I ask the liquor stores about Pliny they said when it's delivered.

Depending on the beer it may be worth the consequences:confused:

I suppose the next logical question would be what are the top three RR brews to try? Except the pliny bunch (Not sure I like IPA's a lot but would try these if I found them).

Pliny hits about every 4-6 weeks, the sours are more random, and usually only one at a time. Redemption/Damnation used to be on shelves pretty much always, nowadays not so much

    This man speaks true.
Redemption and Damnation both switched from almost year-round to the likes of the sours... whenever RR produces enough to send, we see them. All of RR is Limited and/or Rare. Be patient. Do your homework if really want them (and that doesn't mean call stores everyday). We should see Pliny again in the next week or two.

Pliny hit town this week. Was surprised to not see any at Argonaut so I asked if it came in, and was told they got some but are holding onto it until GABF week. WTF. The last drop we got 2 weeks ago disappeared from there much faster than usual, I suspect they held back some of that shipment too. Ridiculous.

MMMMmmmmm.....cellar-aged Pliny. Who's calling RR to report them? :grimacing:

Aside from the drainpour jokes, 2 weeks, non-issue. Last year Arg held bottles from June !?!?

Temptation is always annual (Sept), Supplication is about once every 4 months, Consecration typically every 6 months (Dec/June), Salvation annually (sometime between April-June) but didn't see any this year, and Sanctification we see annually (Feb/Mar).... Damnation haven't seen in maybe a year. Redemption is getting fewer and farther between as well, seems more random.

And please stop reporting Russian River problems for one/two stores.... I'll be pretty pissed if RR pulls out of Colorado like they did Washington.... you guys know how lucky we are to get the amount we do? At least we get some.... Heck, RR even sends us PtY

I totally kid, my comment was tongue-in-cheek. Especially after one of my favorite stores got reported for...price gouging? Since when is $0.00-$0.50 price gouging?

I wouldn't report them, I buy Pliny there every time it drops! I just wish they wouldn't do stuff like that and potentially endanger our RR hookup in CO because some out of towner gets old Pliny during GABF week and complains to RR. This one won't be that old, but like Prospero said they did it last year with months old Pliny

But it's a slap in the face to locals for them to hold back a product so they can sell it to people visiting the city in a couple of weeks

And it doesn't make a lot of business sense, either, IMHO. Stores do not have trouble selling their regular allotment of Pliny to the locals and stores cannot get more Pliny on demand if they do sell out, so why hold back? By doing so, you're selling the same amount of beer you would sell if you sold it fresh for presumably for the same price, but instead of making good with your repeat local customers, you're selling to one-off out-of-town purchasers and giving them dated beer in the process.

Anyway, to respond to the OP, I think the top RR brews to try are (in no particular order (and excluding the IPAs and IIPAs)): Supplication, Sanctification, and Temptation.

Its about marketing and the ability to drive out of towners to their store during GABF. I would bet GABF is one of the top business weeks, if not the top, of the year for beer stores. Shops want to do what the can to ensure customers choose them over others.

Yep...as the place in Denver with the stale Pliny (that pisses off their regulars by refusing to sell fresh-ish Pliny).

But, you're probably right, I guess stale Pliny>No Pliny among the unwashed GABF masses.
