I'm going to Seattle for vacation starting next week and I'm really, really getting excited about the possibilities for having some great beers that I simply can't get here in Atlanta.

What should I be looking for and what are some of the lesser knowns that are available there?

I'll now just sit back and enjoy my Green Flash Symposium growler and hope to get some great ideas.

    Thanks.

If you have a car, go to Black Raven. It's a little north in Redmond, but rull rull good. I like Fremont, and Elysian is kind of the classic (they've got good food, too).

i had a blast at the elysian brewpub in capitol hill.
pike place brewing has a very touristy vibe and is in the middle of the market but the beer is damn good. especially their saison

It worth the trip out to poulsbo for Sound Brewing. A little bit of a drive, and you have to take the ferry, but it is a beautiful area with some really tasty beer.

Also If you are stuck more in the seattle area, I would not miss out on Rubens Brews. Really tasty and much closer.

Find yourself some Fremont Cowiche Canyon Fresh Hop Ale and Kentucky Dark Star Bourbon Barrel Aged Dark Star. Lots of other choices, check out the NW forum for tons of suggestions.

Redmond is due east of Seattle. If the OP heads north from Seattle looking for signs for Redmond, he'll end up in Canada before he knows it.

This is my favorite time of the beer year. Fresh hop varieties everywhere. If you drink nothing but fresh hop beers from Washington, Oregon, and California breweries, you'll be well-served. Cheers.

Don't forget your raincoat --- forecast calls for lots of rain. Leave the umbrella.

    Don't forget about Red P-

    Nevermind.

Reuben's Brews, Fremont, Black Raven, etc. Drink as much as fresh hop beers as you can find while you're here.

Why did you cross out Kentucky Dark Star? Btw I had a bottle of that I drank last fall I think and Honestly one of the smoothest barrel aged beers I've had. I had to conciously avoid drinking it too fast.

Also the mirror pond fresh hop bombers might be hitting shelves soon so look out for that.

THERE ARE NO RAER BEERS IN WASHINGTON

...bah, who cares, there's enough beer there to make that a moot point. Enjoy yourself :grinning:

If you're hitting up any of the great, local bottle shops (too many to list).....seek this out. One of my favourites. Plus, it comes in a can and makes for easy packing on a flight home. Enjoy your trip!
