Out of curiosity, what did you mash at?

Just went back and checked my notes from this brewday, I mashed at 152. It looks like I used a slightly different hop schedule than the above as well.

    .25oz FWH
    .75oz @15 minutes
    .75oz @10 minutes
    1.25oz @ flameout (30 minute hopstand)
    1oz dry hop

Op, I would go with al's citra smash hop schedule. I don't get why people are pushing for one bittering addition, one 5 minute addition and one dry hop addition. Sounds pretty weak to me. I've fallen for the add the hops in the last five minutes crap, and feel the hop profile was pretty flat. Adding your hops starting at 20 min and adding an oz in 5min intervals works well to give you a better overall hop flavor. You just have to adjust your bu/gu ratio to reflect the style you're going for. My last ipa-ish brew got a total of 6 oz added in the last 20 minutes. Oh, and don't forget a flameout / hopstand.

That does look tasty, can't wait to see what it does with Conan!

The APA IPA seems to offer a data point in support of this concept. It had 15/10/5/0 additions, and was certainly in the top five beers that I have made so far. However, my PtE-ish clone had 3 oz at 60 and 6 oz at flameout, and nothing in between, and was also in the top five. As a general rule tho, I tend to follow the 15/10/5/0 pattern, thus far with no regrets.

Now that you mention it, maybe it is. I get confused and easily forget when it's not something I like.

Definitely let us know how this comes out. I'm curious how much of an impact the Conan yeast will have.

So this beer came out really well. The conan yeast made it fairly opaque. The beer is a dark yellowish (think ripe hay) color and the citra hops come through nicely. Definite grapefruit juice taste and an equally citrusy smell.

Having never done this with non-conan yeast I can't really compare, but the conan seems to work pretty well here.
