I really like the mention of Garrett Oliver. Think he'd be great. I also like the idea of Mike Rowe. I always thought he was great in Dirty Jobs.

I thought Brew Dogs format was good and the hosts came off as likable and knowledgeable. I would also like to see a Diner's Drive In's and Dives type show with beer, where you have a different local "beer knowledgeable" host each week hitting local breweries and bars in that city. Picture Greg Koch hosting one week and hitting Green Flash, Ballast Point, Lost Abbey, etc. as well as some of the best beer bars (Toronado, Neighborhood, etc.) and talking with the brewers and bar owners about their beers and recipes as well as the customers there to see what they are drinking and what they like. Maybe hit a ballpark while you're there and let us know what is being served at the stadiums too, good or bad. Then off to SF the following week where Vinnie C. could do the same thing in his city.
Move the show to a different great beer city each week with a different host, whether it's a brewer or craft beer bar owner, something like that might just work, although reading some of the posts in the BD thread, no show is going to make everyone happy.

If you like podcasts, check out this show by the Chicago NPR affiliate, WBEZ, called Strange Brews. They stopped by Three Floyds a few episodes ago. Peter Sagal is featured in one, as well.

It could be more of a documentary style show with Morgan Freeman or David Attenborough narrating.

I would be down with something similar to Adam Richman's "America's Best Sandwich," though emphasizing a style of of beer instead of beer in general. A regional round robin type competition to find the "best" IPA or saison, or stout, etc. of a region and then put each of the winners up against one another nationally.

As for hosts, personally I would prefer the host be a beer fan, not a professional brewer. And I would also like a panel of hosts. Perhaps 3, so the choice doesn't come down to just 1 persons opinion. A trio of Mike Rowe , Anthony Bourdain, Alton Brown would be awesome if they had the capabilities to fill the roll; I know Bourdain does, I bet Brown could, I have no idea about Rowe though.

How has no one yet mentioned Wil Wheaton? He'd make an excellent host for such a show!

Guys, you need to check out the Let There Be Beer campaign, most beery people in the UK have been enjoying it immensely over the last few weeks.

    Some highlights:

The food looks good but the beers? If those are the highlights, I'd hate to see the rest of the show.

I was being mildly facetious

It's a big advertising campaign that a bunch of the bigger brewing companies have cooked up as beer sales in general are down, and they have somehow hoodwinked the likes of Fullers, Adnams and Meantime etc into being part of it. It's hugely amusing and getting slated across the board
