    About 2 months ago I went to my go to beer store to get on the Velvet Merkin list for when it's released. Last Thursday I got my call saying it was in and it will be put aside for me. Couldn't make there Friday so I went in Saturday. Told them I was there for my VM pick up and they said we haven't sold any yet and the "craft beer manager" wasn't in. He looked at the list saw my name and mumbled something about 4 cases he knew of but didn't know where. That same night I went to a beer fest where a Firestone rep. was there and told him my story. He confirmed that they distributed 4 cases to that store and didn't know why I didn't get my bottle. The next day (yesterday) my wife went in and mentioned we met the VM rep and told the store what he said. They told her they were sold out and only got 1 case. She said I'm on the list and got the call. They confirmed it went upstairs to the office and brought down a bottle. Finally! although still weird. Why?

    If they have multiple stores in the area they also may have to share the good stuff.

    They have three other store in which the Firestone rep. we met that night said they distributed 4 cases to each.

    Sounds like there is no communication within the store. At least you got your bottle. This sounds a lot like what I hvae to go through from time to time with my store.

    Perhaps, or it's just employees not knowing what's going on, which happens at every store during every single limited release in the entire country. I would cite specific examples but I wouldn't even know where to start.

    I don't doubt that this happens, but AFAIK moving product from store to store is illegal under Illinois law.

    This. Went to naperville binnys to pick up a limited release on a thursday (they almost always get their limited distro's on thurs) and when I asked a guy about it he said there was none in the back. Came in the next day and the beer manager said they had a case sitting in the back and he doesn't know why he told me that they didn't get it in.

    Aww, did VM already roll through Chicago? I didn't see it anywhere! I guess there wasn't too much to go around.

    @ppohio - You wont see it anywhere cause they are hoarding it and blaming the distributor. I became friends with a couple of liquor stores and I got a personal email from the manager saying it will be in on Monday. Binnys will get there, supposedly, this week. We shall see!!

    Also, at my workplace we got it in last friday but cant sell it until wednesday. Not sure if that is because FW or distro requested that we hold til then, or if its something to do with the internal system PLUs or something. Same with Deths Tar.
